DescriptionThe whole story▼
The XDiavel is the only Ducati with a belt final drive, and the belt runs in the open along the left side of the swingarm. The upper cover is the panel above it — the one that takes the road spray, the stone strikes and the occasional bootlace. It is also, on this particular motorcycle, a defining visual element rather than a hidden guard.
Key Features
- Upper cover for the XDiavel belt final drive, the lower section is the separate part MD-XD16-C19D
- Six configurations across 200 Plain and 245 Twill weaves
- Autoclave carbon holds a straight line along its length where a long plastic moulding sags
- Fits the original swingarm mounting points with the standard fasteners
- Sits in plain view on the left side of the motorcycle, which is where most XDiavel photographs are taken from
Why the Belt Needs Covering
A drive belt tolerates weather far better than a chain but tolerates debris far worse. Grit that gets between the tooth faces and the pulley grinds at the belt from the inside, and unlike a chain there is no adjustment or lubrication that recovers it. Replacement is the only remedy, and on an XDiavel that is not a trivial job.
The cover therefore earns its place twice: it keeps the worst of the road off the belt, and it is the most visible panel on the side of the bike people photograph. Buying it purely for the look is a defensible decision; buying it for the belt is the better argument.
Fitment and Compatibility
Ducati XDiavel and XDiavel S, 2016 to 2024, on the standard swingarm. Uses the original mounting points. Check belt tension and alignment to specification after any work in this area.
Road Approval
No ABE and no EC type-approval is published by Fullsix. A drive cover can count as a guard in a technical inspection, so confirm the requirement for your registration before road use.
Upper and Lower Are Different Purchases
Fullsix splits the belt cover into two order codes, and they are priced very differently: the upper section here costs considerably less than the lower one, MD-XD16-C19D. That reflects the amount of carbon in each rather than any difference in quality, and it means the upper section is a reasonable way to start.
If both are planned, order them in the same weave and finish and fit them together. The two panels meet along a visible line, and a mismatch in weave direction across that joint is the kind of detail that cannot be unseen once noticed.
