At 836 euro net this is the most expensive part Fullsix makes for the DesertX, and the reason is simply area. The side fairings are the two largest panels on the motorcycle, they are the ones that define its profile, and they are the ones that carry the most carbon. Fitting them is the point at which a DesertX stops looking like a bike with carbon accessories and starts looking like a carbon bike.

Large Panels Are the Hard Ones to Build
Anyone can lay up a sprocket cover. A panel this size is a different problem: the laminate has to cure evenly across a large, doubly curved surface, and it has to come out of the mould without the internal stresses that make a big carbon part slowly twist. That is precisely what autoclave curing is for — uniform pressure and temperature across the whole area, so the panel that leaves the mould is the panel you bolt on two years later.
It is also where the weave becomes a visual decision rather than a technical one. Across a surface this large, 200 Plain reads as a fine, regular texture at conversational distance and disappears into a dark sheen from further away. That restraint is why Ducati specifies plain weave on its own carbon and why Fullsix offers it here.
Fitment and Compatibility
Ducati DesertX, 2022 to 2026. Set of two, using the original fixings. Allow proper time for this one and work with the tank panels loosened — the fixing sequence matters if you want the gaps even on both sides.
Road Approval
No ABE and no EC type-approval number is published for this set. These are replacement body panels rather than structural components; confirm the position for your own registration before road use.
Fitting Sequence and Panel Gaps
Large panels are fitted loose and tightened last. Start every fastener on both sides by hand, check the gaps against the tank and the radiator shrouds with the bike upright, adjust, and only then torque anything down. Working one side to completion before starting the other is how a set ends up with a visibly wider gap on the left than the right, and it is not recoverable without starting again.
Allow a proper afternoon rather than an hour. If the inner side fairing set MD-DX22-C37 is also going on, fit both in the same session — they share fixing points and setting them together is considerably easier than adding one to the other later.
