The lower side panels run along the bottom of the S1000R's flanks, below the engine cases and above the belly. On a naked motorcycle they are the panels that decide whether the machine looks finished underneath or simply stops halfway down, and they are visible from the side at exactly the height a passer-by's eye travels.

One Article Across the Facelift
BMW revised the S1000R for 2017 and left this area alone, which is why one article covers eight model years where the panels above it do not. For a used machine of uncertain specification that is worth knowing: this is a part that fits whichever of the two early versions the motorcycle turns out to be.
It also makes it a sensible first purchase. The panels above change with the facelift and have to be ordered precisely; these do not.
Fitment and Compatibility
BMW S1000R, model years 2013 to 2020, on the original mounting points. The 2021 model is a new generation and takes different bodywork throughout.
Road Approval
Fullsix publishes neither an ABE nor an EC type-approval number for this part. Treat it as replacement bodywork and confirm the position for your own registration before road use.
Long Edges Are the Difficult Part
Neither panel is large, but both are long and thin, and that is a harder shape for a laminate than a broad flat one. A narrow part has little material to resist twist, so the whole length has to come out of the mould straight or it will not touch all of its fixings at once.
Offer each panel up before tightening anything. A well-made one meets every mounting point with no fastener fitted; one that has to be pulled into place carries that load for as long as it stays on the motorcycle.
