DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Diavel V4 dropped the belt drive of its predecessor for a chain, and with the chain came the guards that go with it. This is the front one — the panel over the chain run where it leaves the countershaft, which is where lubricant is flung outwards on the first hot kilometre of any ride.
Key Features
- Front section of the chain guard, at the countershaft end of the run
- Four configurations in 200 Plain: clear coat, matt, satin and raw
- Autoclave carbon does not soften or sag in the heat coming off the engine cases
- Fits the original mounting points with the standard fasteners
- Comes off quickly for chain inspection, which on a chain-drive Diavel is a regular event
Where the Lubricant Goes
Chain lube does not stay on the chain. Centrifugal force throws it outwards as soon as the drive is warm, and the front guard is the first surface it lands on. That is why this part gets dirty faster than anything else on the left side of the motorcycle and why the finish choice is a practical decision rather than an aesthetic one.
Raw and matt are the sensible options. A clear coat in this position is a surface you will be cleaning rather than wiping, and aggressive solvents used to shift chain lube will dull a lacquer over time. Carbon itself is indifferent to any of it and cleans back to where it started.
Fitment and Compatibility
Ducati Diavel V4, 2023 to 2026, on the standard chain and sprocket arrangement. Check clearance after fitting if the motorcycle runs non-standard gearing.
Road Approval
No ABE and no EC type-approval is published by Fullsix. Chain guards can be assessed as safety-relevant in a technical inspection; confirm the requirement for your registration before road use.
Two Guards, One System
The front chain guard covers the countershaft end of the run; there is separate provision further back. If both are being replaced, fit them in one session and in the same finish, because they are seen together from the left and a mismatch along a single line of the motorcycle is more obvious than the same mismatch between distant parts.
Check chain tension after any work in this area. Not because the guard affects it, but because the guard being off is the best access you will get, and a five-minute check while everything is visible is worth more than the same check through a gap.
