Design, Finish and Heritage

BST has been at the cutting edge of carbon wheel development since the early 2000s, supplying wheels to World Superbike and MotoGP-class machinery. The STAR TEK design distils that racing lineage into a road-legal package whose visible carbon weave is as striking standing still as it is blurring past at speed. Every surface treatment — from the deep-gloss clear coat to the Candy and Solid pigment options — is applied over a flawless carbon substrate, so the finish is an expression of the material rather than a disguise for it.

The BST Ultra-High-Speed aluminium spider at the wheel centre is machined to exacting tolerances and bonded integrally into the carbon rim, eliminating the flex and energy loss associated with multi-piece designs. The result is a wheel that looks purpose-built because it is.

Performance on Road and Track

Reducing rotating unsprung mass is one of the most effective — and most expensive — performance modifications available for any motorcycle. By spinning less weight at the tyre contact patch, the BST STAR TEK set allows the suspension to follow road and track surfaces more precisely, improving both mechanical grip and rider feedback. The front wheel (3.5 x 17 inch, approx. 2.4 kg, load rating 155 kg) and rear wheel (6.0 x 17 inch, approx. 2.2–2.75 kg depending on specification, load rating 280 kg) are engineered specifically for the RSV4 platform, ensuring correct fitment and bearing alignment without modification.

Safety and Testing

Every BST STAR TEK wheel undergoes an exhaustive certification process before dispatch. Load testing follows TÜV 287 StVZO and JASO T203-85 protocols. Each unit completes 1,000,000 bending and torsion cycles, 6,000 km of radial load testing and a radial impact test confirming residual air pressure is maintained after impact. Individual CT scanning detects any internal voids in the carbon laminate, and a final visual inspection ensures surface quality. The wheels are also ISO-certified at production facility level.
