Construction and Materials

BST's GP TEK series uses the same pre-preg carbon fibre layup process found in aerospace and Formula 1 applications. Each rim section is autoclave-cured for consistent fibre consolidation, then precision-bonded to the 6082 T6 aluminium hub — an alloy chosen for its superior strength-to-weight ratio over the more common 6061 grade. The internal spacers are likewise carbon fibre, eliminating the small but cumulative mass penalty of conventional aluminium or steel equivalents.

Every fastener is Titanium Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V), offering tensile strength comparable to steel at roughly half the weight and far greater corrosion resistance. The result is a wheel where even the hardware contributes meaningfully to the overall mass reduction, rather than undermining it.

Track Performance

Reducing unsprung mass at the front axle allows the suspension to track surface irregularities more faithfully, improving contact patch consistency under braking and through corners. The GP TEK's load ratings — radial load of 275 kg (3.5-inch) or 327 kg (3.75-inch), static load of 330 lbs / 150 kg, cornering load of 783 Nm and torsional load of 908 Nm — confirm that the weight savings involve no structural concession. These are race-grade figures validated to DOT E and JWL standards.

This front wheel is engineered specifically for the Kawasaki ZX-10R covering model years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
