DescriptionThe whole story▼
The BST GP TEK front wheel for the BMW S1000RR K67 with M hub (2019–2026) is purpose-built for track competition, carrying DOT E and JWL certification to back up every gram of its 1.7 kg pre-preg carbon fibre construction. Where most lightweight wheels make concessions on load ratings, the GP TEK meets demanding structural benchmarks — 275 kg radial load (3.5"), 327 kg radial load (3.75"), 783 Nm cornering load and 908 Nm torsional load — while still coming in at just 3.75 lbs without bearings and spacers.
Key Features
- DOT E and JWL certified — independently verified structural safety for track use, not merely a manufacturer claim.
- Pre-preg carbon fibre rim bonded to a 6082 T6 aluminium hub for an optimal balance of stiffness and impact resistance.
- Titanium Grade 5 bolts, inserts and nuts throughout — maximum tensile strength at the lowest possible weight penalty.
- Pre-preg carbon fibre inner spacer keeps rotational inertia to an absolute minimum, sharpening turn-in response.
- Ultra-high-speed 90° aluminium valve with cap — ready for the fastest circuits without modification.
- 2-year manufacturer warranty for total peace of mind on your investment.
Designed for the Track, Certified for Confidence
The GP TEK series is designed exclusively for competition and track-day use. BST's decision to seek DOT E and JWL certification for a wheel in this category is significant: these programmes subject the rim to controlled radial, static and torsional loading tests, giving riders and teams an independently validated assurance of structural integrity rather than relying solely on in-house testing. Pair that with Titanium Grade 5 hardware — the same alloy used in aerospace and high-performance motorsport fasteners — and the GP TEK's safety credentials are as serious as its lap-time potential.
Build Quality and Materials
BST lays up the rim shell using pre-preg carbon fibre, where resin content is precisely controlled during manufacture to maximise fibre volume fraction and eliminate voids. The result is a rim that resists flex under hard braking and aggressive cornering loads without adding unnecessary mass. The 6082 T6 aluminium hub is machined to accept the BMW S1000RR K67 M-specification hub interface and provides the dimensional accuracy required for precise bearing pre-load and wheel alignment. Internal spacers — also in pre-preg carbon fibre — replace conventional aluminium components, squeezing additional grams from the rotating assembly where they matter most.
Performance on the Track
At 1.7 kg the GP TEK front wheel reduces unsprung and rotating mass simultaneously. Lower rotating inertia means the front end follows steering inputs more immediately, tracks surface changes more faithfully under trail braking, and recovers direction more quickly on exit. For BMW S1000RR riders pushing hard on circuit, these characteristics translate directly into tighter lines, later braking points and more consistent lap times. The wheel ships in the original OEM size as standard; alternative sizes are available on request.
