DescriptionThe whole story▼
PSK3R is the version of the Bonamici top clamp you fit when the ZX-10R has stopped being a road bike. It is the same billet component as the street specification with one feature deleted: there is no provision for the ignition barrel. Nothing is machined for it, so once the clamp is on, the original lock has nowhere to go. That is a deliberate choice, and for a dedicated track machine it is the right one.
Key Features
- No ignition lock provision — the recess is simply not there, which removes mass and clutter from the top of the fork bridge.
- Cut from solid high-strength aluminium on a CNC machine, like the rest of Bonamici's chassis line.
- Micro shot-peened with steel balls to raise fatigue resistance in a component that never gets a rest between corners.
- Anodised black or silver; the finish resists fuel, brake cleaner and the general chemistry of a paddock.
- Part number PSK3R, made in Italy.
Deleting the Lock Is the Feature
Race regulations in most series require the ignition lock to be removed or disabled anyway, and a barrel sitting in the middle of the top clamp is one more thing to catch a knee, snag a strap or break in a crash. Taking it out of the design rather than leaving an empty hole means the clamp can be shaped around what it actually has to do: hold two fork tubes and the steering stem in the correct relationship, and nothing else.
Where It Sits Against the Standard Clamp
Bonamici prices the race clamp below the street one, which surprises people until they look at what is being paid for. The street version costs more because it has to be machined around a lock that the race version simply ignores. Material, treatment and manufacture are otherwise the same. If the bike is never going to carry a key, the race clamp is both the lighter and the cheaper answer.
Fitment and Compatibility
PSK3R is made for:
- Kawasaki ZX-10 R — model years 2021 through 2026
For the 2016-2020 generation Bonamici supplies PSK1R instead.
Road Approval
None, and in this case the point is sharper than usual. Without a fitted ignition lock the motorcycle cannot be operated legally on public roads in Germany, and no ABE or Teilegutachten exists for the clamp itself. This is a circuit part. If your ZX-10R is registered and ridden on the road, buy PSK3.
