DescriptionThe whole story▼
The alternator cover is the widest thing on the left of a ZX-10R engine, which makes it the first part of the motor to meet the road when the bike goes down that way. CP011 is Bonamici Racing's guard for it, sold individually so you can protect one side without buying the other.
Key Features
- Left-hand side only, shaped to the alternator housing — the most exposed casing on that side of the engine.
- Cut from solid high-strength aluminium on a CNC machine.
- Conducts heat out of the casing rather than insulating it, so it stays on the bike all year without affecting cooling.
- Screws and spacers supplied with the guard.
- Made in Italy by Bonamici Racing. Part number CP011.
Why the Left Side Sticks Out
An inline-four carries its generator on the end of the crankshaft, and on the ZX-10R that puts a large, round, load-bearing casing at the outer edge of the engine on the left. There is nothing in front of it and nothing below it. In a left-hand low-side the bike pivots onto that cover, and because the casting is thin where it is widest, it is the part that cracks. Once it does, the engine loses oil through a hole roughly where the crankshaft comes out.
The Cheapest Part of the Repair
Replacing an alternator cover on a ZX-10R means draining oil, removing the stator wiring, and hoping the impact did not reach the rotor. The guard that prevents all of that is a bolt-on part costing a fraction of the labour alone. It is also the guard most riders fit first if they only fit one.
Fitment and Compatibility
Bonamici lists CP011 for:
- Kawasaki ZX-10 R — model years 2011 through 2026
For the right-hand pick-up side use CP010; for both together the CP012 kit is less than the two bought individually.
Road Approval
None published and none supplied.
