DescriptionThe whole story▼
Four point one kilograms from one silencer. Triumph's standard unit on the 765 weighs 6.7 kg — the single heaviest component on the right-hand side of a bike that is otherwise built to be light — and this carbon replacement removes 61.2 per cent of it.
Key Features
- 2.6 kg against the standard 6.7 kg: 4.1 kg and 61.2 per cent less
- Carbon fibre muffler outer sleeve and end cap
- 2.9 PS and 2.5 Nm more, both at 8,350 rpm
- Covers the S, R and RS as well as the Daytona 765
- Race-proven materials
- No road approval — circuit use only
The Engine That Went to Moto2
Triumph's 765 triple became the spec engine for the Moto2 world championship in 2019, and the Daytona 765 that shares this part number was the road-going celebration of that. An exhaust on this engine is working with one of the best-sounding three-cylinders anyone builds.
The gains are modest in absolute terms, but on a triple the sound change is not modest at all.
Where Four Kilograms Goes
The standard silencer sits high and to the right, behind the rider's leg. Taking four kilograms out of that position does more for how quickly the bike changes direction than four kilograms taken from anywhere low or central would.
This is the same argument as on the R3 earlier in this range, and it holds for the same reason: the mass is in the worst possible place to begin with.
Three Versions of the Street Triple
Triumph sold the 765 in three states of tune between 2017 and 2019 — the S, the R and the RS — with different suspension, brakes and power. All three take this silencer, as does the Daytona 765. The dyno figures quoted here were taken on one of them and apply as a description of the change rather than a promise for each variant.
Why Forty-Five Minutes
Triumph runs the 765's exhaust under the engine and up the right side, so the silencer is not a two-bolt job. The lower fairing panel or the belly pan has to come off first, depending on the version.
Forty-five minutes is still a morning's work rather than a project, but it is three times what an RSV4 takes — worth knowing before you plan the afternoon.
Sixty-One Per Cent
Only two other slip-ons in this catalogue beat 61.2 per cent, and both are on far smaller machines. On a 126 PS roadster this is an unusually large saving, and the reason is simply how heavy Triumph's original is.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-T7SO2-APC covers the Triumph Street Triple 765 S, R and RS and the Daytona 765 from 2017 through 2019. Triumph revised the Street Triple for 2020, and those machines take a different part.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use.
