DescriptionThe whole story▼
A scratch-resistant coating. On a motocross bike that is not a cosmetic detail — the exhaust takes roost from the rider ahead at every corner, and an uncoated titanium sleeve looks sandblasted after two meetings.
Key Features
- 2.6 Nm more at 6,000 rpm and 2.5 PS at 9,950 rpm
- Stainless steel headers with a titanium muffler outer sleeve
- Imprinted titanium end cap
- Scratch-resistant coating for durability
- Meets FIM noise limits
- Complete system, sixty minutes to fit
- Closed course competition use only
Steel Headers, Titanium Muffler
The Racing Line splits the materials by job. Stainless steel takes the headers, where heat is highest and where a crash puts the frame's weight onto the pipe. Titanium takes the muffler sleeve, where the weight saving is available and the loads are lower.
The Evolution Line, one step above, uses titanium throughout. It is lighter, and it costs correspondingly more. For a rider who bins the bike regularly, the Racing Line is the more sensible purchase.
Torque at Six Thousand
2.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm on a 450 motocross engine is where a rider drives out of a rutted corner without having to chase revs. The 2.5 PS at 9,950 is the headline, but the torque figure is the one that changes lap times.
No Published Weight
Akrapovic does not publish a weight for this system, and we are not going to estimate one. What they state is that it reduces weight over standard. If the exact figure matters to your class regulations, ask us and we will request it from Akrapovic before you order.
Racing Line or Evolution Line
Akrapovic builds both for this generation of CRF450R. The Evolution Line is titanium throughout and lighter; the Racing Line uses steel headers and costs considerably less.
The published power and torque figures for the two are the same. What you pay the difference for is weight, not performance — which makes the Racing Line the better value for anyone who is not counting grams for a championship.
Four Model Years
This system covers the 2017 to 2020 CRF450R and CRF450RX. Honda changed the platform for 2021, and those machines take S-H4MET16-FDHLTA or its Racing Line equivalent.
Sixty Minutes, Not Thirty
A Racing Line takes twice as long to fit as the newer Evolution systems, because the steel headers have to come off the cylinder head separately. Budget an hour rather than a half.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-H4MR16-CIQTA covers the Honda CRF450R and CRF450RX from model year 2017 through 2020. Installation is quoted at 60 minutes.
Road Approval
None. For closed course competition use only. Not intended for street use.
