DescriptionThe whole story▼
Thirteen model years on one part number, across four different motorcycles. Yamaha's 689 cc CP2 twin has powered the MT-07, the XSR700 retro, the Tracer 7 sports tourer and the American FZ-07 since 2014, and none of the revisions changed the exhaust route.
Key Features
- 4.2 kg against the standard 7.2 kg: 3.0 kg and 41.7 per cent less
- 3.2 Nm more at 5,800 rpm and 2.6 PS at 9,100 rpm
- Carbon muffler sleeve finished with a carbon end cap
- Stainless steel link pipes and headers
- Shorter muffler for a sportier appearance
- Removable noise insert included
- Covers four models across thirteen model years
Carbon at the Outlet Too
Most Akrapovic systems finish with a titanium end cap, because titanium takes the heat at the outlet better. This one uses carbon for both the sleeve and the cap, which makes the muffler read as a single piece rather than two.
On an MT-07 — a motorcycle with almost no bodywork and a very visible exhaust — that continuity is worth more than it would be on a faired bike.
Torque Where the CP2 Lives
3.2 Nm at 5,800 rpm. The 689 cc parallel twin has a 270-degree crank and makes its useful power well below the limiter; it is not an engine anyone revs out on the road.
Filling in at not quite six thousand is the gain that changes how the bike feels. The 2.6 PS at 9,100 is the headline and the less useful of the two.
What the Slash-One Means
The /1 marks a revision. Akrapovic keeps the base number when a part is improved rather than redesigned, and this is the current version — S-Y7R2-AFC without the suffix is the earlier one.
Ninety Minutes
A complete system means the headers come off the cylinder head, and on a Tracer 7 with its fairing that is more work than on a bare MT-07. Ninety minutes is Akrapovic's figure across all four models.
Four Motorcycles, Four Characters
The MT-07 is a stripped roadster, the XSR700 a retro, the Tracer 7 a touring machine and the FZ-07 the American name for the first. They ride very differently and share one exhaust route — so the same carbon system reads as sporty on one and as an oddity on another.
That is worth picturing before ordering. Mechanically it fits all four without question.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-Y7R2-AFC/1 covers the Yamaha MT-07 and FZ-07 from 2014, the XSR700 from 2016 and the Tracer 7 and Tracer 700 from 2016, through 2026. Installation is quoted at 90 minutes.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use.
