Akrapovic uses one word here that changes how this part should be ordered: mandatory. The Slip-On Line S-T12SO4-HCQT cannot go on a Bonneville T100 without this shield. It is not an accessory and not an upgrade — it is the second half of the order.

One slip-on, two shields
The Akrapovic Slip-On Line S-T12SO4-HCQT covers both the Bonneville T100 and the T120 — it is listed in this shop for both. The heat shields are where the two bikes part company: P-HST12SO4 for the T100, P-HST12SO3 for the T120. Ordering the slip-on without checking which shield you need is the mistake this article exists to prevent.
Why stainless and not carbon
Akrapovic uses carbon for heat shields across most of its range. On the Bonneville it specifies stainless steel, which fits the motorcycle: a modern classic with chromed and brushed metal surfaces would look wrong with a woven carbon panel on the exhaust. The choice here is aesthetic as much as thermal.
Model years
2017 to 2020 for the T100. Triumph revised the Bonneville range more than once in this period, and the shield is listed against these four years specifically. If your T100 falls outside them, this is not the part.
What Akrapovic does not publish
