One Sensor or Two
This is the whole question. Yamaha built the Tracer 9 to Euro 5 with a single lambda sensor and later to Euro 5+ with two, and Akrapovic's kits follow that split rather than the calendar.
The sensors are visible: threaded bosses in the header or collector with a wire running back to the loom. One wire means this kit. Two mean the other one. Five minutes with a torch under the bike settles a question that no amount of paperwork will.
Why the Kit Is Separate at All
Akrapovic keeps one silencer in stock across several versions of the same motorcycle and puts the differences into a cheap bolt-on kit. It is efficient for the manufacturer and it means every order needs two line items rather than one.
The word Akrapovic uses is mandatory, and it means what it says: without the kit there is no way to attach the exhaust.
Why Not Simply Print the Year
Because the year does not decide it. Emissions specification varies by market and by build date within a model year, and a machine registered in 2023 may have left the factory built to either standard. The sensor count is a fact about the motorcycle in front of you; the year is a fact about a piece of paper.
Three Model Names, One Kit
The Tracer 9, the better-equipped GT and the GT+ with radar cruise control all use the same subframe and exhaust mounting. Their equipment differs a great deal and their exhaust hardware does not.
What Is Inside
The clamp that grips the silencer, the bracket that carries it, and the bolts and spacers that hold the assembly together. Nothing to cut, nothing to drill.
Order Them Together
The kit costs a fraction of the silencer, and forgetting it turns a two-hour job into a two-week one. Put both in the same order.
Keep What Comes Off
Yamaha's own clamp and bracket come off with the standard silencer. Store them with it — a Tracer 9 sold on with its complete factory exhaust is worth more than one sold with a box of loose parts missing the hardware.
Not a Performance Part
A fitting kit adds nothing to power, torque or sound, and takes nothing away either. It is the means by which the part that does those things stays attached to the motorcycle.
Road Approval
Not applicable. A clamp and a bracket carry no emissions or noise approval. What the finished exhaust is allowed to do depends on the silencer and the catalytic converter ahead of it.
