DescriptionThe whole story▼
Akrapovic uses one word about this kit that decides whether an order is complete or not: mandatory. The silencer for the 2024 MT-09 does not come with the clamp and bracket that hold it on. Those are this part, and they are a separate order.
Key Features
- Mandatory — the exhaust cannot be mounted without it
- Contains the muffler clamp, the bracket and the mounting material
- For the Euro 5+ MT-09 and FZ-09 of 2024 onwards
- A separate order from the silencer itself
- Not interchangeable with the kit for the 2021 to 2023 machine
Why an Exhaust Arrives Incomplete
It looks like an oversight and it is not. Yamaha changed the MT-09's subframe and mounting points more than once across the generations while keeping the silencer itself compatible, so Akrapovic separates the parts that differ from the part that does not.
One silencer, several fitting kits. That keeps the expensive item in stock across model years and puts the variation into a cheap component — sensible for the manufacturer, and a trap for anyone who orders only the silencer.
Check Which MT-09 You Have
This kit is for the Euro 5+ machine, built from 2024. The 2021 to 2023 MT-09 takes a different kit, and the earlier bikes different again.
The registration document gives the first registration date, which is usually enough. Where it is not, the emissions class in the papers settles it: Euro 5+ is what this kit is built around.
What Is in the Box
The muffler clamp, the bracket that carries the silencer, and the mounting material — the bolts, spacers and springs that go with them. Nothing that needs measuring and nothing that needs fabricating.
Order It at the Same Time
The practical advice: put the kit in the same order as the exhaust. Discovering it is missing on the day the silencer arrives means the motorcycle sits on the bench until a second parcel gets there.
It is a modest amount of money next to the silencer, and it is the difference between a finished job and a half-finished one.
Keep the Standard Hardware
The kit supplies what the Akrapovic silencer needs, not a replacement for everything Yamaha fitted. The standard clamp and bracket come off with the standard silencer and are worth keeping — a motorcycle offered for sale with its complete factory exhaust, hardware included, is an easier motorcycle to sell.
Not a Performance Part
Clamps and brackets do nothing for power, torque, weight or sound. They exist so the exhaust that does those things can be attached to the motorcycle, and they should be bought with exactly that expectation.
Road Approval
Not applicable. Mounting hardware carries no emissions or noise approval of its own. Whether the finished exhaust is road legal depends on the silencer and what sits ahead of it.
