DescriptionThe whole story▼
The most expensive single article in this catalogue, and it goes on a motorcycle with no lights and no number plate. That is the shape of the motocross market: a works-specification exhaust for a works-specification bike, sold to people who race.
Key Features
- Peak output climbs to 56.5 PS, two above the standard 54.5
- A kilogram lighter than Honda's own system, 2.9 against 3.9
- Premium titanium alloys with the wall thickness stepped by section
- Tailor-made for the very limited space inside the 2025 frame
- Built for the rigours of off-road racing
- Removable noise insert supplied
- Closed course competition use only
The 2025 CRF450R Is a New Motorcycle
Honda redesigned the bike for 2025 with a revised frame, new bodywork and a changed exhaust route. Nothing from the 2021 to 2024 generation carries over, and a system for the older machine will not go on this one.
Check the year in the papers before ordering. From ten metres away the two generations are hard to tell apart.
Where the Money Goes
Not into horsepower. Two PS on a 54 PS engine is worth having on a start straight and nowhere else, and Akrapovic does not pretend otherwise.
What the price buys is a system that survives a season: titanium thick where the bike takes roost and stone strikes, thin where it only carries gas, and shaped to fit a frame that leaves almost no room. A cheaper system uses one wall thickness and compromises in both directions.
Torque at Eight Thousand
The 1.5 Nm arrives at 7,900 rpm — the middle of a 450's working range, where a rider drives out of a rutted corner. On a motocross engine that is a more useful place to find torque than nearer the limiter.
An Insert in the Box
A removable noise insert ships with the system. FIM-regulated meetings enforce a sound limit at the start line, and an exhaust that fails scrutineering is a wasted entry fee.
Keep it in the toolbox with the spare levers rather than in a drawer at home.
What Akrapovic Does Not Claim
No approval of any kind is recorded for this part — not even the competition codes that appear on the older CRF systems. The description says closed course only, and that is the whole of it.
On a bike Honda sells without lights, that is not a limitation anyone will notice.
The Muffler Is as Large as the Frame Allows
Akrapovic sizes competition mufflers to the maximum the chassis will accept, because volume is what silences sound without restricting flow. Packing absorbs noise and burns out; a larger chamber does the same job and lasts.
On a bike as tightly packaged as the 2025 CRF450R, finding that volume is most of the engineering.
