DescriptionThe whole story▼
At the start of a race, a twin with strong low-down torque can lift its front wheel, and the rear brake is one of the tools a rider uses to keep it in check. Accossato's AGPA42 rear pad in ZXC ceramic racing is listed for the Norton Commando 961 SF Sport from 2011 to 2015. It is designed for competition, where the rear brake must respond precisely and remain stable in the heat of a race.
Key Features
- AGPA42 rear pads for the Norton Commando 961 SF Sport, 2011 to 2015
- ZXC ceramic racing mixture, SKU AGPA42ZXC
- Accossato: ceramic compound developed for racing
- Precise response for starts and corner exits
- Stable when the disc is hot
- For classic and twin-cylinder racing
- Two pads for one caliper
Construction and Material Quality
ZXC is, according to Accossato, a ceramic compound ideal for racing. It is designed to give a consistent bite at circuit temperatures and to resist fading over a race distance. Accossato's general aim of long pad life applies as well.
Starts and Corner Exits
A good start depends on clutch, throttle and body position, but a touch of rear brake can help control the front wheel as the bike launches. Out of slow corners, the rear brake also helps keep the bike from lifting when the rider opens the throttle hard. These inputs need to be small and precise, and a ceramic racing pad on the Commando 961 SF Sport gives a clear response to them. Warm the brakes on the sighting lap so that the pad is ready at the start. After each race, check the rear pad for glazing or uneven wear and make sure the caliper releases fully. A spare set in the pit box saves time if a pad gets contaminated. Discuss with the rider how much rear brake they actually use: some racers rely on it heavily, others hardly touch it, and that affects how quickly the pads wear over a season.
Fitment and Compatibility
The rear of the Commando 961 SF Sport takes AGPA42 in Accossato's list for 2011 to 2015, and the front takes AGPA96. The rear plate is also made in Sintered (ST) for road use. One box refits the rear caliper.
Road Approval
AGPA42ZXC does not carry a German ABE, and no test report is on file. It is intended for track racing only.
Scope of Delivery
Two ZXC ceramic rear pads for one caliper.
