DescriptionThe whole story▼
Circuit riders argue endlessly about the rear brake, but nobody disputes that it should match the rest of the setup. For a Brutale 800 RR from 2016 to 2025 that now spends its weekends on track, Accossato offers the rear pad in ZXC ceramic racing compound, so the back of the MV Agusta carries the same competition intent as the front calipers.
Key Features
- ZXC ceramic racing rear pads for the Brutale 800 RR
- Listed from 2016 to 2025
- Ceramic compound ideal for racing, in Accossato's words
- Keeps the rear in step with a racing front setup
- For corner-entry and line-trimming use
- One box for the rear caliper
Construction and Material Quality
The only claim Accossato makes for ZXC is that it is a ceramic compound ideal for racing, and that tells you where it belongs. Nobody fits it for a trip to the supermarket. The company, whose roots go back to Moncalieri in 1969, designs every pad around slow wear, heat that stays under control so the pedal does not go vague, and strong retardation. On the rear of a race-prepared triple, those qualities are wanted for a handful of seconds per lap, but they are wanted consistently from the out-lap to the flag.
A Tool for Trimming the Line
Watch riders through a slow hairpin and you will see very different habits. One trails the rear lightly from the braking marker to the apex to keep the RR from running wide; another ignores it until the bike starts to push, then uses a quick dab to tuck the front back in. On a short-wheelbase naked, either technique asks for a rear pad that reacts cleanly and does not change character as the session wears on. That is the job this ceramic set is meant for. Riders who still use the bike on the road should look at the OR or ST pad for the rear instead.
Looking After It at the Track
Chain lube mist and tyre rubber tend to collect around the rear caliper of a race bike, so clean the area before each event and wipe the disc with a lint-free cloth. When fitting, push the piston back only after cleaning it. Look at the pad edges during the lunch break, since uneven wear often shows a sticking piston. If the pedal travel grows over the day, a quick bleed of the rear circuit usually restores it.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato matches AGPA42 to the rear of the MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR for model years 2016 to 2025. The front pad for the RR is AGPA96 (2016 to 2022). Race builds sometimes change the rear caliper, so confirm the shape. One box covers the rear.
Road Approval
No approval document, ABE or test mark is available for this pad. It is intended for racing and competition.
Scope of Delivery
Two ceramic-compound rear pads in one box. Supplied without hardware.
