Accossato offers the AGPA92 rear pad in its ZXC ceramic racing compound too, article AGPA92ZXC, catalogued for the Moto Guzzi California Touring ABS 1400 from 2013 to 2017. On a big touring cruiser this pad is meant for track and competition outings only. It suits owners who transport their bike to a circuit for a weekend and want a ceramic racing mixture at the rear to match one at the front.

Construction and Material Quality
Ideal for racing, a ceramic compound: those few words are all Accossato publishes about ZXC, and we do not dress them up. It tells you the pad is a circuit part. On the rear of a tall touring cruiser, where the brake is touched often but lightly to keep the bike composed, a racing mixture keeps the feel in line with a race pad at the front. The manufacturer's standing claims, durable pads, strong stopping and fade held off through moderate temperatures, cover it too. AGPA92 is the backing plate.
Trailering to the Track
Many owners who take a heavy tourer to a circuit transport it on a trailer or in a van, fit the racing pads in the paddock and swap back before the drive home. On the California's single rear caliper that job is quick. Keep the road pads in a clean, labelled bag so they are not contaminated.
When fitting, clean the piston before pushing it back, check the disc for grooves and pump the pedal until firm. Bed the new pads in during the first laps, and swap back to the labelled road pads before the bike is ridden on public roads again.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato does not distinguish between the early California 1400 Touring and the Touring SE at the rear: AGPA92 fits the whole 2013 to 2017 run. If you are ordering race pads for the front as well, the plate there is AGPA96. There is no Accossato disc in the catalogue for this Guzzi. Buy one box for the single rear caliper.
