DescriptionThe whole story▼
Riders who prepare a 2022 KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO for racing usually think about the front brake first, but the rear deserves attention too. Accossato's AGPA42 rear pad in ZXC ceramic racing lets them run a racing mixture at both ends of the bike. The maker describes ZXC as a ceramic compound ideal for racing, which tells you plainly where it belongs: on an EVO with tape over its lights and a transponder on its frame, not on one that spends the week in traffic.
Key Features
- ZXC ceramic racing rear pads, AGPA42ZXC
- KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO, model year 2022
- Accossato: a ceramic compound ideal for racing
- Lets you pair a racing rear with a racing front
- Intended for track days and competition
- Single box for the rear caliper
- No ABE; competition only
Construction and Material Quality
What Accossato says about ZXC fits in a sentence: it is a ceramic compound that suits racing. We add nothing that the maker does not state, so there is no talk of recipes or temperature windows here. The brand's general promises for its pads, restrained heat, low fade and slow wear, still apply. The ceramic friction face is bonded to the AGPA42 backing plate, which drops into the rear caliper of the EVO without alterations.
One Compound Family Front and Rear
Some racers like the front and rear brakes to share a character, so that both respond in a similar way once the bike is warm. Running ZXC at the back alongside a racing compound at the front is one way to get there on the EVO. In practice the rear sees light, precise inputs: a touch on corner entry to calm the chassis, a quick press on the exit when the front wheel starts to rise under full throttle.
Prepare it with the same care as the front. Measure the old pads, look for a lip on the disc edge, and replace fluid that has done a season. Clean the piston before pushing it back, then press the pedal until it is hard before the bike rolls out of the garage. Bring the pads up to temperature over the out lap and check them again after the session.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA42 for the rear caliper of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R EVO in the 2022 model year. For the two front calipers, Accossato offers the AGPA106 in the same year. Besides ZXC, the AGPA42 comes as Organic and Sintered.
Road Approval
These ceramic rear pads have no ABE in our records and are sold for racing.
Scope of Delivery
