DescriptionThe whole story▼
Race-prepared R Carbons exist, and their riders care about the rear brake more than road riders might think. Accossato makes the AGPA42 rear pad in ZXC ceramic racing and lists it for the Indian FTR 1200 R Carbon of 2021 to 2025. The ceramic mixture belongs on a bike with rearsets, a quick-action throttle and a timing transponder, where the back brake is a precise tool used on every corner entry. On a road-going R Carbon, the organic or sintered alternative is the sensible pick.
Key Features
- Rear pad AGPA42 made with Accossato's ceramic ZXC racing mix
- Catalogued for the Indian FTR 1200 R Carbon, 2021 to 2025
- A ceramic formula meant for the race track
- Aimed at circuit-built R Carbons with rearsets
- OR and ST exist for the same rear pad
- Each box: a pair of pads for one caliper
Construction and Material Quality
Ceramic, and made for racing: that is the whole of Accossato's own summary of ZXC. The consequence for a rear pad is a mixture that prefers heat and keeps a uniform response once the brake has been used repeatedly at racing pace, rather than one tuned for silence in a queue of cars. Crews pick it because they want the rear to feel the same in the last laps as in the first. The general Accossato philosophy of slow wear and heat kept under control underlies this pad too.
Why a Racer Uses the Rear
A twin like the one in the R Carbon produces strong engine braking, and on a fast corner entry the rear tyre can go light and start to hop. A gentle, measured press on the pedal steadies it and lets the rider hold a tighter line from turn-in to apex. That demands a pad that reacts in small, repeatable steps even when hot. Measure the remaining material after each outing, keep the caliper free of rubber and dust, and set the pedal height so that the ball of the foot reaches it without strain in a tucked racing position. Seat a new pair during a slow out-lap.
Fitment and Compatibility
In Accossato's catalogue, AGPA42 is the rear reference for the FTR 1200 R Carbon between 2021 and 2025; the front of the same machine takes AGPA177. OR and ST versions of this rear pad also exist. The single rear caliper needs one box. Before refitting the caliper, wipe the piston clean and push it home gently, then press the pedal until it is firm again.
Road Approval
Our files hold no German ABE or approval papers for the ceramic ZXC rear pad, so Inter-Pace supplies it for racing and competition purposes only.
Scope of Delivery
A pair of AGPA42 pads in ceramic ZXC racing compound, packed to re-pad the rear caliper of one FTR 1200 R Carbon.
