DescriptionThe whole story▼
Watch a rider's right foot into the first corner of a race and you learn something about how they ride. The rear brake, used lightly under hard downshifts, is what keeps a bike from squirming while the engine is fighting the gearbox. Accossato presses the AGPA42 rear pad of the Ducati Streetfighter 848 S in its ZXC ceramic racing material, article AGPA42ZXC, for the 2012 to 2015 machine. The compound is a ceramic one the company lists for racing, and the rear axle is where its work is felt rather than seen.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the Ducati Streetfighter 848 S, model years 2012 to 2015
- AGPA42ZXC: the AGPA42 carrier with the ceramic racing material
- Listed by Accossato for racing use and for nothing else
- For riders who use the rear pedal to steady the bike on entry
- A single rear caliper, so one box completes the axle
- OR and ST occupy the same carrier for road-oriented use
- Two pads per box, always changed as a pair
- No German ABE on record; supplied for competition
Construction and Material Quality
A rear pad on a race bike leads a curious life: short applications, a light rotor that heats and cools quickly, and an engine radiating at it from close range. Ceramic is the maker's own word for this friction surface and racing is where it places it, and what a rider wants from it at the back is a predictable response to a very small input. Behind the material sits the same AGPA42 plate used by every other version of the article, so the only variable introduced by this choice is the one the rider intended.
The First Corner After the Lights
The opening corner of a race is crowded, and control there is worth more than speed. Riders who trail the rear brake through the downshifts keep the chassis calm while everyone around them is fighting a bike that wants to hop, and they can hold a tighter line because of it. Later in the race the same technique appears at the two or three corners where the entry is bumpy. None of it works if the pedal feels different from one lap to the next, since the inputs involved are far too small to be corrected by force.
The rear repays a two-minute inspection after every session. Look at how the material has worn across its width, feel whether the rotor has picked up a ridge, and check that a pad is not sitting proud because a piston has stopped moving freely. Clean the pistons before they are pressed back and work the pedal until it is firm afterwards. A set that has come off the Streetfighter 848 S with real material left is worth labelling before it joins the spares.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's rear listing runs from 2012 to 2015 for the Streetfighter 848 S and carries the standard Streetfighter 848 under the same number. The front of this model uses the AGPA106, which is not the article fitted to the non-S bike, so the two machines match at one end and differ at the other. No disc for the 848 S appears in the rotor catalogue. On a bike that has been raced, check what is actually in the caliper before ordering.
Road Approval
No ABE and no German test documentation for the AGPA42ZXC has reached us. The article is sold for circuits and organised competition, which is also where the material is meant to be used.
Scope of Delivery
A single box of two AGPA42 pads in the ceramic racing material, the set for one caliper and therefore the complete rear axle of this Ducati.
