DescriptionThe whole story▼
Attention in a race garage points at the front of the motorcycle, and the rear brake gets remembered when something has already gone wrong with it. Accossato offers the AGPA42 rear pad of the Ducati Streetfighter 848 in its ZXC ceramic racing material for teams that would rather not have that conversation, covering the 2012 to 2015 machine. The compound is a ceramic one listed for competition, and at the rear it is chosen by riders who want the whole bike specified on the same terms rather than half of it.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the Ducati Streetfighter 848, 2012 to 2015
- AGPA42ZXC: the AGPA42 carrier with the ceramic racing material
- Catalogued by Accossato for racing use, with no road claim
- For riders who specify both ends of the bike for the circuit
- One rear caliper, so one box per change
- The OR and ST materials share this carrier for other uses
- Two pads per box, always fitted as a pair
- No German ABE on record; a competition part
Construction and Material Quality
Ceramic is how the maker labels the friction surface and racing is where it puts it, and the rear of a circuit bike is a stranger environment than that phrase suggests. The pedal is used briefly and often, the rotor is small and cools quickly between applications, and the whole assembly sits in the heat coming off an exhaust. Slow wear is the claim Accossato attaches to its pad programme generally, and at the back of a race machine it usually shows up as a set that outlasts several at the front. The carrier is the standard AGPA42 plate throughout.
The Pad Nobody Watches
Ask a club rider when they last looked at the rear pads and the honest answer is often a shrug. Yet the rear is where a dragging pedal, a seized pin or a rider who rests a boot on the lever shows up first, and a rear pad worn to the plate will take a rotor with it in a single afternoon. Two minutes with a torch after each session is enough. On a Streetfighter 848 prepared for competition the rear also tells you how the bike is being ridden, because riders who use it for stability leave a very different wear pattern from those who never touch it.
Handling is straightforward once the wheel is out. Wipe the pistons and ease them back rather than forcing them, keep the rotor face clean of chain lubricant, and work the pedal until it comes up firm before the bike leaves the stand. A new set deserves an easy out-lap, and a set that has done a hot weekend deserves to be measured before it is packed away as a spare.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA42 rear application spans 2012 to 2015 on the Streetfighter 848, and the same number also appears against the S version for those years. The front of this bike takes the AGPA96, while the disc catalogue offers the DK053. Machines built for competition collect parts from several sources over a life, so read the article number off what comes out of the caliper before ordering what goes back in.
Road Approval
There is no ABE in our files for the AGPA42ZXC and no German test documentation. The part is offered for the circuit and for organised events, and the compound gives no reason to pretend otherwise.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA42 pads in the ceramic racing material, boxed as the set for one caliper, which is all the rear wheel of this Ducati requires.
