DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ask a fast club rider what the rear brake does on a Panigale V2 955 and the answer is rarely about stopping. It steadies the bike in the last part of the entry, it stops the rear stepping out as the throttle comes on, and on a tight circuit it is used dozens of times a lap in doses too small to register on a data trace. Accossato presses the AGPA42 rear pad in the ZXC ceramic racing material, article AGPA42ZXC, and lists it for this twin from 2020 to 2024, describing the compound as a ceramic one made for racing.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the Ducati Panigale V2 955, 2020 to 2024
- Article AGPA42ZXC: the AGPA42 pad with Accossato's ceramic racing material
- The maker positions this compound for competition
- Made for a rear brake used as a chassis control at speed
- A single caliper at the back, so one box does the whole job
- Each box holds two pads
- OR and ST are available on the same carrier for other kinds of use
- No German ABE held; competition part
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's line on the ZXC ceramic racing material is short: ceramic, and intended for racing. Behind it sits the ordinary AGPA42 body, the same shape and thickness as the other suffixes, so a rider can move between compounds across a season without anything else about the rear caliper of a Panigale V2 955 changing. High braking performance is what Accossato asks of its pads generally, and at the back of a race bike the value of that shows up as a pedal that behaves the same way at the end of a session as at the start.
A Foot on the Pedal Mid-Corner
The rear brake of a racing twin lives between two moments. The first comes with the bike already leaning, where a trailing pressure helps rotate it and keeps the rear from becoming light. The second comes at the apex, where a fingertip of pressure calms the chassis while the throttle opens. Neither uses much of what the brake can do, but both demand that the pedal do the same thing every time; a rear that grabs once in ten applications is worse than useless on a Panigale V2 955 heeled over at a club circuit.
Rear brakes on race bikes get hot in ways their owners underestimate, tucked behind a wheel with little air and often dragged lightly for half a lap. Look at the pads whenever the rear wheel is out, keep the disc clear of the lubricant that a chain throws off, and if the pedal ever starts to sit lower than usual, treat it as a message rather than an annoyance. Work the pedal firm again after any work at the back and before the next outing.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA42 is Accossato's rear pad for the Panigale V2 955 across 2020 to 2024, with the Troy Bayliss version listed alongside the standard bike. One box covers the single rear caliper. The front of the same machine is served by the AGPA177 over the same seasons, and three Accossato discs are catalogued for this twin: DK008, DK053 and DKS035. Later Panigale twins fall outside the entry.
Road Approval
We have no ABE for this article and no German test certificate, which places it firmly in competition and closed-course use.
Scope of Delivery
One box containing two AGPA42 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing material, enough for the rear caliper of a Panigale V2 955.
