Watch a supermoto rider on a tarmac circuit and the right foot is busy all lap. The rear brake is not there to slow the machine down; it steadies the chassis as the bike is turned in, keeps the back from stepping out of line when the engine drags and holds everything together while the front is loaded. Accossato offers the AGPA42 plate in its ZXC ceramic racing compound for the rear wheel of the Ducati Hypermotard 821, seasons 2013 to 2016, and calls the material a ceramic compound made for racing.

Construction and Material Quality
A ceramic face is the specialist option on this plate, and Accossato keeps the description to essentials: a ceramic compound made for racing. For a rear brake the practical question is not peak force but whether the pedal answers the same way on the twentieth application as on the second, because a rider who uses it continuously builds a feel for it and then stops thinking about it. Heat belongs to that question too. A pedal dragged through a corner puts more into a small rear disc than most people imagine.
Settling the Entry With the Right Foot
The technique takes practice and repays it. Approaching a slow corner the rider trails the rear pedal lightly while the front is still loaded, which keeps the machine settled and stops the back of the Hypermotard 821 skipping as the revs drop. In the corner itself a touch of rear brake tightens the line without any input at the bars. On the way out it helps hold the front wheel down when the engine picks up. None of that works if the pedal feels different from one lap to the next, and none of it works if the foot has to hunt for the lever, so set the pedal height before the session rather than during it. Afterwards, let the rear caliper cool with the bike rolling slowly instead of parking with the brake held on.
Fitment and Compatibility
This plate is listed by Accossato at the rear of the Hypermotard 821 across 2013 to 2016, covering the standard version and the SP in both ABS and non-ABS form. One caliper serves the rear wheel, so one box refreshes it completely. The front pads for the same machine and the same seasons are the AGPA177, and the DK053 and DKS053 discs in Accossato's list for this model belong to the front wheel.
