DescriptionThe whole story▼
The end of a race weekend is when most of the useful information is available and nobody has the energy to collect it. A BMW R1250RS that has been out four times in two days has a rear brake with a story to tell: how much material has gone, how the disc looks, whether the pedal still comes up as it did on Saturday morning. Accossato's ZXC ceramic racing compound on the AGPA92 outline is made for weekends of that sort, and it is listed for the RS from 2019 to 2024.
Key Features
- AGPA92ZXC: rear pads in the ZXC ceramic racing compound
- For the BMW R1250RS of 2019 to 2024
- Accossato describes a ceramic compound made for racing
- Two pads per box, the full set for the rear caliper
- Only one box is needed at the back of this bike
- OR, ST, EV1 and EV2 are the alternatives on this shape
- AGPA177 serves the front wheel, DK006 is the catalogued disc
- No German ABE recorded; competition and circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato calls the ZXC a ceramic compound made for racing and adds nothing to it, which is fair enough for a material that can only be judged properly on a circuit. In the caliper it is the same AGPA92 as the road versions, so a rider who has changed these pads before has nothing new to learn, and a box covers the rear wheel with its pair. Competition has been part of the company for a very long time, as an enduro world title back in 1985 shows.
Sunday Evening, Loading the Van
Five minutes with the bike on its stand before it goes up the ramp saves an argument three weeks later. Look at both rear pads and note what is left, run a finger over the disc for a lip at the outer edge, and check that the pedal comes back to the same place it did on Friday. Wash the dust off the caliper while it is still loose rather than after it has dried on, and if the machine is being stored for a fortnight, leave it with the rear brake clean and dry. A pad that has done a weekend of hard work is not necessarily finished, but it is a known quantity, and knowing it beats finding out halfway through a session.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the rear wheel of the R1250RS, 2019 to 2024, this is the ceramic option on Accossato's list. The rear runs one caliper, so one box is the complete job and the pads always go in as a pair. Riders who spend most of the year touring will be better served by the OR or ST versions of the same pad, with EV1 and EV2 in between. The AGPA177 is the front pad Accossato lists for the RS, and the DK006 is the disc it offers for the machine.
Road Approval
We cannot produce a German ABE or any test paperwork for the AGPA92ZXC, so it changes hands as a competition part for closed circuits.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two AGPA92 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing compound for the rear caliper.
