DescriptionThe whole story▼
The riders who get the most out of a racing brake are the ones who write things down. Which pads went in, on which day, after how many runs they were changed, and what the lever or the pedal was doing at the time. Accossato's ZXC ceramic racing compound on the AGPA92 rear pad belongs in that sort of record, and the pad is catalogued for the rear wheel of the BMW R 1250 GS of 2019 to 2023, a machine that turns up at more events than its touring reputation suggests.
Key Features
- AGPA92ZXC: rear pads for the BMW R 1250 GS, model years 2019 to 2023
- The AGPA92 plate in the ZXC ceramic racing compound
- Accossato describes a ceramic material made for racing
- The Rallye of the same years is covered in our fitment data
- Two pads per box, the set for the single rear caliper
- Four sister numbers carry the touring and road-and-track materials
- Front pads for this bike: AGPA252; disc listed by Accossato: DK006
- No German ABE on file; competition and track riding
Construction and Material Quality
Ceramic materials sit slightly apart in any pad range, and Accossato's entry for this one is deliberately plain: a ceramic compound suited to racing. It is mounted on the AGPA92 plate used by all five materials for this wheel, which means the fitting procedure holds no surprises. Accossato works from Villastellone, south of Turin, and its catalogue runs from parts made for daily riding to parts made for events; this number sits at the far end of that scale, and the box contains the two pads that one rear caliper accepts.
Keeping a Record Between Runs
Memory is a poor instrument for judging a brake. A rider who comes in after twenty minutes remembers the last three laps and very little else, which is why a notebook in the van is worth more than another opinion in the paddock. Write down what went in and when, how the pedal felt at the start of the run and at the end, and what the pads looked like afterwards. Over a season the pattern emerges: how long a set lasts at a particular circuit, whether a change in riding style shows up as faster wear, whether the rear is being dragged without you noticing. On an R 1250 GS, which is heavier than most of what shares the track with it, that record is more useful still. Note the fluid changes too, and check the pads with a torch rather than by feel.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application data lists the AGPA92 at the rear of the R 1250 GS from 2019 to 2023, and our fitment includes the Rallye. One box completes that wheel, since it is braked by a single caliper, and the two pads are always changed together. Should the ceramic material be more than this bike needs between events, four other numbers put milder materials on the same plate, and the AGPA252 covers the front wheel over the identical years. Give a new set a series of unhurried applications before you rely on it in a timed run.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE in our documents for the AGPA92ZXC, no test certificate and no approval mark, so nothing places these pads in road traffic. They are sold for competition and for closed circuits.
Scope of Delivery
Two Accossato AGPA92 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing compound, boxed as one rear caliper's set.
