The rear brake gets more use in a pit lane than anywhere else on a circuit. Speed limits there are taken seriously, the display is watched more closely than the road ahead, and the ride from the garage to the end of the lane is done at a crawl with a boot resting on the pedal. Accossato's AGPA42 rear pads for the Aprilia RSV4 Factory of 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2016 come in the ZXC ceramic racing compound, for machines that spend their weekends in exactly this way.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato places ZXC ceramic racing among its competition compounds and calls it a ceramic mix made for racing. At the rear of a circuit bike a pad leads a curious life: long spells of light contact, occasional firm use to settle the machine, then a session's worth of heat soaking through from the disc. The company's general aims, wear kept in check and a material that will not let temperature build faster than it can escape, matter here in a different way than at the front. A rear pad on an RSV4 Factory is seldom the part that limits a rider, but it is often the part that spoils the feel once it has been neglected.
Out-Lap, In-Lap and What Comes After
The first and last minutes of every session pass at low speed with the rear brake in constant light use, and across a weekend those minutes add up. Ride out of the garage smoothly, keep a steady pressure instead of stabbing at the pedal, and use the out-lap to bring the whole machine up to temperature rather than the tyres alone. Coming back in, let the brakes cool while the bike is still rolling before it goes on the stand, because heat with nowhere to go ends up in the caliper.
After the session the rear repays a glance. Chain lubricant flung off at speed lands near the disc, dust from the pads gathers in the caliper, and material that has picked up oil will never feel right again. Wipe the disc with a clean cloth, look at the pads through the caliper opening, and check the pedal for free play before the next run. None of it takes long, and on an RSV4 Factory the alternative is a rear brake that quietly stops telling you what the back of the bike is doing.
Fitment and Compatibility
The AGPA42 is Accossato's rear reference for the RSV4 1000 Factory of 2009 to 2011 and for the APRC version of 2013 to 2016; nothing is listed for 2012. One box covers the rear axle. Front pads for this Aprilia come under AGPA106, and since a caliper sits on each side, two boxes are needed at that end. Accossato's DKS032 is the disc that appears against the same machine.
