DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ask a racer what the rear brake is for and you will not hear much about stopping. On a bike like the Aprilia RS 660 it is used to settle the chassis on the way into a corner, to stop the rear stepping out as the gears come down, and to hold the machine on the grid with the engine running. Accossato presses its ZXC ceramic racing compound into the AGPA42 pad that fits the rear caliper of the RS 660 built from 2020 to 2025, including the Extrema and the Trofeo of 2022.
Key Features
- Rear pads for the Aprilia RS 660 of 2020 to 2025 in the ceramic ZXC racing compound
- Accossato describes the mixture as a ceramic compound intended for racing
- For machines used in club events, one-make series and track days
- The Extrema and the 2022 Trofeo are listed with the same rear pad
- One box equips one caliper with two pads
- Front pads for the same bike: the AGPA177
- No German ABE documented; competition and closed-course use
Construction and Material Quality
ZXC is the ceramic mixture in the Accossato range, offered for racing, and the company keeps its claim for it as brief as that. Fitting it at the rear of a racing RS 660 follows a certain logic: the pedal is used with precision rather than with force, and a compound that responds the same way when the bike has been circulating for twenty minutes is easier to lean on for small corrections. The pad is made to the AGPA42 outline and shares its shape with the road mixtures, so a team can change compounds between sessions without changing anything else about the caliper.
The Rear Pedal in a Race
Riders differ enormously in how much rear brake they use, and both schools have their reasons. Some drag the pedal into every corner to keep the bike calm under downshifts; others reserve it for slow hairpins and for holding position on the grid. Either way the rear pads on a racing RS 660 spend a whole weekend being touched lightly and often, which wears them in a different pattern from the heavy, brief work at the front. Look at them on Saturday evening rather than on Sunday morning, check that the pistons are clean and moving freely, and make sure the pedal still comes up firm after a pad change before the bike leaves the garage. A rear brake that feels vague makes a rider cautious in exactly the places where calmness pays.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato assigns the AGPA42 to the Aprilia RS 660 from 2020 to 2025, and the same entry names the RS 660 Extrema and the RS 660 Trofeo of 2022. The pads replace the standard rear set. For the front there is the AGPA177 in the same mixtures, and a bike being prepared for a race meeting is usually worth doing at both ends at once.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no test mark for this pad in our records, which matches its purpose; it is a racing part and is sold as one.
Scope of Delivery
One box with two ceramic ZXC pads for a single rear caliper.
