DescriptionThe whole story▼
Accossato front pad AGPA97 in the ZXC ceramic racing compound is intended for riders who run a Yamaha R1 in competition and want to fine-tune braking across a race weekend. Accossato lists AGPA97 for the R1 from 1998 to 2003, for the 2006 SP and from 2015 to 2024. ZXC is a ceramic race mix, so it belongs in the paddock toolbox together with tyre warmers and a torque wrench, not on a daily commuter.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes ZXC as a ceramic compound ideal for racing and publishes nothing more detailed about it. We will not guess at its make-up. Accossato's general claims for its pads, lasting well, fading less because heat stays in check and stopping hard, are reported here as the company's statements, not as our test results.
Setting Up the Brakes Over a Weekend
Racers who choose ZXC usually note lever feel, stopping points and pad wear from Friday practice onwards and adjust lever position and bleed schedule as the weekend goes on. On an R1, where the front brakes take huge loads at the end of each straight, that record-keeping pays off. Carry a spare set so you can compare against EV2 in practice. If the bike also sees public roads, ST or EV1 are the realistic choices. Whichever compound you settle on, write down the date and session count when a set goes in, so you know how many laps a set of pads gives on your R1 at your circuits.
Paddock Routine
Keep discs clean with a suitable brake cleaner, inspect the pads after each run and replace fluid regularly during the season.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's catalogue lists AGPA97 for the YZF 1000 R1 from 1998 to 2003 and from 2015 to 2024, and for the 2006 YZF 1000 R1 SP. Other years are not covered. With two front calipers, order two boxes to replace the full front set. Accossato's rear pad for 2015 to 2024 R1s is AGPP39.
Road Approval
There is no ABE and no test report for AGPA97ZXC in our records, so the pads are for competition and closed-circuit riding.
Scope of Delivery
Two ZXC ceramic racing pads, AGPA97, enough for one front caliper of the R1.
