DescriptionThe whole story▼
ZXC is the ceramic compound in Accossato's racing range, and the company describes it as ideal for racing. For the Yamaha FZ1 Fazer from 2006 to 2016, it is available for the AGPA97 front pad. This is a specialist choice for a Fazer that is used on the circuit, and for a rider or team who wants to compare a ceramic racing mix with conventional race pads before settling on one.
Key Features
- Accossato AGPA97 front pad in ZXC ceramic racing compound
- For the Yamaha FZ1 Fazer, 2006-2016
- Accossato: a ceramic compound ideal for racing
- For circuit use and setup testing only
- Can be compared directly with EV2
- Two pads per box for one front caliper
- OR, ST, EV1 and EV2 are the other versions
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's description of ZXC is short: a ceramic compound ideal for racing. It carries the general Accossato aims of slow wear, controlled heat to limit fade and strong stopping power. Accossato does not publish details of the mix, so we make no claims about its contents or behaviour beyond the manufacturer's statement.
A Ceramic Option in the Setup Book
Serious track riders keep notes: tyre pressures, clicker settings, gearing and, increasingly, brake pads. On a track day, running ZXC in one session and EV2 in the next shows how each compound feels on your FZ1 Fazer at that circuit. Pay attention to the initial bite, how the lever feels after several laps and how easily you can release the brake while turning in. Inspect the pads in the pit lane after each run. Keep other variables constant during the comparison, including tyre pressures and lever position, so that the pad is the only thing that changes. For road riding, ZXC is not intended; OR or ST are the compounds for that.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA97 for the front of the FZ1 1000 Fazer from 2006 to 2016 and AGPP88 for the rear. With two front calipers, the Fazer needs two boxes. Never mix compounds on the same axle. Clean the pistons before retracting them, pump the lever until firm and bed the pads in during the first session with progressively harder stops.
Road Approval
No ABE or German test documents exist for AGPA97ZXC on our side. It is sold for competition use.
