Accossato's ZXC ceramic racing compound is designed for competition, and on the AGPA96 plate, article AGPA96ZXC, it is catalogued for the Moto Guzzi California Touring ABS 1400 from 2013 to 2017. On a large touring cruiser this is a specialist choice. It suits owners who run the bike on circuits for whole weekends, perhaps in a bagger-style project, and who want to manage brake heat and wear carefully through several sessions.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato describes ZXC as a ceramic compound that is ideal for racing, and publishes nothing further about its make-up. We keep to that description. The purpose is plain: competition use under heavy loads. The maker's general promises of long life, strong stopping and fade kept away by controlled heat also apply. The ceramic material is bonded to the AGPA96 backing plate.
Managing Heat Over a Weekend
A heavy tourer on a circuit builds brake heat quickly, and over a weekend of practice and races that heat has to be managed. Riders use the cool-down lap to let the discs recover, avoid holding the lever with hot brakes in the pit lane and check pad wear after every session. A racing ceramic mixture is designed for this environment.
Take spare pads, fresh fluid and cleaning materials to the event. Bed the new pads in during the first laps and monitor lever travel throughout the weekend. A tourer also brings its own quirks to the circuit: the fairing and bags add weight up high, so the first laps should be spent learning where the bike wants to be braked rather than to chase lap times.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA96 for the front of the Moto Guzzi California Touring ABS 1400 in model years 2013 to 2017, spanning the 1400 Touring (2013 to 2015) and the Touring SE (2016 to 2017). AGPA92 is the rear partner, and no Accossato disc is catalogued. With two front calipers, a complete set is two boxes.
Road Approval
We have no ABE or German approval certificate for AGPA96ZXC; it is offered for racing and competition purposes.
