DescriptionThe whole story▼
A ceramic racing pad on a big cruiser is a deliberate choice, not a default one. Accossato offers the AGPA96 plate in its ZXC ceramic racing compound, article AGPA96ZXC, and catalogues it for the Moto Guzzi California Custom ABS 1400 from 2013 to 2015. It is intended for owners who have built the stripped-back California into a track or event machine and who want Accossato's competition ceramic mixture at the front for those outings.
Key Features
- AGPA96ZXC front pads in ZXC ceramic racing compound
- For the Moto Guzzi California Custom ABS 1400, 2013 to 2015
- Accossato calls ZXC a ceramic mixture ideal for racing
- For event and circuit use on a modified cruiser
- Suited to sustained competition loads
- Plate also produced as OR, ST, EV1 and EV2
- Competition only; no German approval on file
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's only published description of ZXC is that it is a ceramic compound ideal for racing. We do not speculate beyond that. What it tells you is that the pad is designed for competition, with heavy and repeated use. Accossato's general claims, long life, strong stopping and fade kept away by controlled heat, apply to it as well. The ceramic friction material is bonded to the AGPA96 plate for the Custom's front calipers.
Questions Before Fitting a Race Ceramic
How often will the bike see a circuit? Will it be ridden to the event or transported? Will the same pads stay in for road use afterwards? Answering these honestly helps decide whether a ceramic racing mixture makes sense. If the California Custom is a dedicated event bike, ZXC is designed for that environment; if it doubles as a road cruiser, a road compound is the more natural choice for everyday miles.
When fitting, inspect the discs, clean the caliper pistons and bed the pads in during the first laps with progressively firmer stops.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's listing places AGPA96 on the front of the Moto Guzzi California Custom ABS 1400 from 2013 to 2015, named California 1400 Custom in the catalogue. AGPA92 covers the rear for the same years, and no Accossato disc is offered. Order two boxes for the two front calipers.
Road Approval
AGPA96ZXC is supplied for racing and competition, since we hold no ABE or German approval documentation for it.
Scope of Delivery
Two ZXC ceramic pads for one front caliper, in a single box.
