DescriptionThe whole story▼
Among the compounds Accossato offers for the AGPA96 front pad, ZXC ceramic racing is the most narrowly focused. On the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S of 2017 to 2023 it is a choice for riders who compete and who treat brake pads as part of their chassis set-up, alongside fork settings and tyre choice. Accossato describes ZXC as a ceramic compound ideal for racing. For road use on the S, the everyday mixtures remain the sensible option.
Key Features
- Ceramic racing compound ZXC, article AGPA96ZXC
- Front pads for the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S, years 2017 to 2023
- Accossato: ceramic compound ideal for racing
- A tuning option for riders who log their sessions
- Fits the calipers like every other AGPA96 version
- Two boxes for the pair of front calipers
- No ABE; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The maker's description of ZXC runs to one line: a ceramic compound well suited to racing. We keep to that and do not invent details about its recipe or operating temperatures. What Accossato does say about all its pads is that they keep heat build-up low, fade less and last well. The ceramic friction face shares the AGPA96 backing plate, so moving to it from another compound requires no change to the calipers.
Comparing Compounds on a Test Day
Serious amateur racers often book a private test day to try changes they would not risk during a race weekend. A pad compound is a good candidate for that kind of comparison. Run one set for a couple of sessions, note where you brake and how the front tyre feels at turn-in, then swap and repeat on the same tyres. The AGPA96 also comes in EV2, so an S owner can compare two racing mixtures on the same bike.
Whatever the result, keep the routine tidy. Swap pads on both calipers at once, clean each piston before pushing it back, and pump the lever until it is hard before the bike rolls out of the garage. Write down the session count for every set in your notebook, and check disc surfaces carefully between runs. Small changes in lever feel are easier to trace when the paperwork is in order.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA96 for both front calipers of the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S, model years 2017 to 2023, so two boxes are needed for the axle. The rear partner in the Accossato range is the AGPA29, listed for the same period.
Road Approval
These ceramic pads have no ABE or approval mark in our records and are sold for competition use.
Scope of Delivery
