DescriptionThe whole story▼
Accossato offers a ceramic front pad for the Kawasaki VN900 Classic, which says something about how broadly the company catalogues its compounds. The AGPA95 in the ZXC ceramic racing mixture is listed for the VN900 Classic from 2006 to 2021 and the Classic SE of 2011 to 2021. It is a specialist choice for owners who race or experiment with their cruiser on track, and who like to try different pad characters as part of their machine set-up.
Key Features
- AGPA95 front pads for the Kawasaki VN900 Classic, 2006 to 2021
- ZXC ceramic racing compound, article AGPA95ZXC
- Accossato describes it as a ceramic mixture for racing
- One more option when tuning a race set-up
- Intended for circuit use, not commuting
- Same plate also sold as OR, ST, EV1 and EV2
- No German approval on file; supplied for competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato presents ZXC as a ceramic compound ideal for racing. That is its purpose: circuit work. For all its pads the company also says that heat stays limited, which holds back fade, that wear is low and that stopping power is high. The ceramic friction layer is fixed to the AGPA95 plate.
Experimenting With a Race Cruiser
Riders who build a cruiser for racing often go through a long process of trial and error with suspension, tyres and ground clearance. The brake pad is another variable. A ceramic compound gives a different lever character from the other racing mixtures, and some riders prefer one or the other depending on the circuit and the conditions.
Label each set of pads you try, note how the brake felt, and clean the pistons before pressing them back for the next swap. Keep the disc clean and dry, and pump the lever until it is firm before leaving the pit. A short out-lap at moderate pace lets the fresh pads settle before any serious stop.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA95 for the front of the VN 900 Classic, 2006 to 2021, and the VN 900 Classic SE, 2011 to 2021, both appearing in our garage as the Kawasaki VN900 Classic. The rear pad is AGPP251, and no disc is catalogued. The bike runs a single front caliper, so one box suffices.
Road Approval
We have not received an ABE or approval certificate for AGPA95ZXC. It is offered for racing.
