DescriptionThe whole story▼
The ZXC ceramic racing version of Accossato's AGPA38 front pad is listed for the Indian Chief Bobber Dark Horse in 2022 and 2023. Accossato describes it as a ceramic compound ideal for racing, so its place is on a Bobber Dark Horse built for competition or ridden regularly at the circuit, where the brake is tuned over a weekend. For road riding, the sintered or EV1 versions suit the bike better.
Key Features
- AGPA38 front pad in ZXC ceramic racing
- For the Indian Chief Bobber Dark Horse, 2022 to 2023
- Ceramic mixture for competition, according to Accossato
- For race-built bobbers and track weekends
- Also available as ST, EV1, EV2
- Two pads per box for one caliper
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's summary of ZXC is brief: ceramic, and ideal for racing. The ceramic base distinguishes it from the company's road and mixed-use formulas, and it gives a characteristic feel once the brake is hot. On a heavy bobber, that heat arrives quickly on track. Like all Accossato pads, ZXC is designed with limited wear and heat control against fade in mind.
Pit Box Routine
Running a Bobber Dark Horse at a race weekend means building a routine around the brake. After each session, measure the remaining pad material, look at the disc for deposits or discolouration, and blow out dust from the calipers. Note how the ceramic pad felt at the start and end of the session, and adjust lever reach or braking markers accordingly. Always change both pads of a caliper together, and bed in fresh pads during an out-lap. A heavy cruiser eats through pad material faster than a sports bike on the same circuit, so a race weekend on the Bobber Dark Horse can easily need more than one set, and it is worth packing a torque wrench and fresh brake fluid in case the lever starts to feel long by Sunday.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists AGPA38 for the front of the Chief Bobber Dark Horse (Chief 1800 Bobber Dark Horse) in 2022 and 2023. The rear pad for this model is AGPA81, listed for the same years. The box covers one caliper, so check how many front calipers your bike carries. Clean the pistons before retracting them.
Road Approval
This ceramic pad has no German ABE or approval papers in our records and is sold for racing and competition purposes.
