Club racing runs to a timetable that has not changed in decades: practice in the morning, two heats through the middle of the day and a final in the late afternoon. Between them there is time to look at the bike and change something. For the 2017 Fantic Caballero 500, Accossato offers the AGPA177 front pad in the ZXC ceramic racing material, article AGPA177ZXC, which the company describes as a ceramic compound intended for racing. It is the most specialised of the four surfaces available on this plate.

Construction and Material Quality
The maker offers two words, ceramic and racing, and then stops. That brevity is worth respecting rather than padding out, because the useful information is in where the mixture is aimed. Accossato's wider claims for its pads are a long working life, heat that stays under control and firm retardation, and on a light single the second of those is what a rider notices across a busy afternoon. The carrier is the standard AGPA177 plate that every version of the article uses, so the specialist choice is made entirely at the friction surface and the caliper notices nothing new.
Two Heats and a Final
Race days reward people who change one thing at a time and write it down. If a fresh surface goes onto the front of the Caballero 500 before practice, leave the rest of the bike alone that morning, and make a note of how the lever feels at the end of each outing rather than trusting the memory of it. Impressions fade between the second heat and the final, and a line in a notebook is worth more than a confident recollection in the paddock.
The practical side is short. Bed a new set in during practice with progressively firmer applications, not with one violent stop. Look through the caliper mouth between outings to see how much material is left, and have a second set in the van if the day is long. Check that the disc is free of oil after every session, because a bike that has been laid down or has weeped from a fork seal will hand the pads something they cannot recover from. Let the front end cool before the machine goes back on the van.
Fitment and Compatibility
Only the 2017 Caballero 500 carries this front listing. The bikes that followed from 2022, in all their trim names, use the AGPA184, and there is no entry at all for the years between the two generations, so the frame year decides which article is correct. The rear of the bike is covered in both periods by the AGPP91. The Accossato disc programme contains nothing for this Fantic. One box holds the set for one caliper, and the number stamped on the outgoing pad is the reliable thing to order against.
Road Approval
For the AGPA177ZXC we can show neither an ABE nor a German inspection report, so the article is supplied strictly for competition away from public roads.
