DescriptionThe whole story▼
Anyone who has run a bike at a two-day meeting knows that consumables are planned in the week before, not discovered on the Sunday morning. Friction material belongs on that list beside fluid, tyres and cable ties. Accossato's ceramic entry for the front of the Ducati SuperSport 939 S is the ZXC ceramic racing compound on the AGPA177 pad, sold as article AGPA177ZXC and listed for the 2017 to 2020 seasons. It goes into both front calipers of a machine that spends its weekends inside a fence.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati SuperSport 939 S, seasons 2017 to 2020
- AGPA177ZXC: the AGPA177 shape in the ZXC ceramic racing material
- Accossato describes a ceramic compound intended for racing
- Bought before an event rather than for the daily journey
- Two boxes fill the two front calipers of this model
- Two pads per box, the complete set for one caliper
- The same shape also comes in ST, EV1 and EV2
- No German ABE documented; competition use only
Construction and Material Quality
The factory line on this material could hardly be shorter: a ceramic compound made for racing. It sits among the competition articles and makes no claim to suit a rider who wants a quiet life, which is an honest place for it to be. The AGPA177 plate beneath is the carrier every version of the article shares, so the caliper cannot tell which suffix has gone into it. Long life and restrained wear are what Accossato promises across the programme, and at the front of a machine being ridden at a meeting those two words translate into how many sessions a set will see before someone has to find a spanner.
Packing for a Two-Day Meeting
A sensible spares box is built around the parts that are consumed rather than the ones that break. Fluid, a spare set of friction material, a lever, tape, and the tools to get a front wheel out. Everything in it is cheap next to the cost of losing a Sunday, and it fits in the space a folding chair takes up in the van.
Work out the wear pattern on the pads that come off and keep them rather than binning them. A used set that still has material on it is a legitimate spare for the ride home, and the way it has worn tells you something: a step across one pad points at a caliper that is not sliding freely, while one caliper eating material faster than its partner usually means a sticking piston on that side. Look at the discs at the same time, because fitting new material to a scored disc wastes the new set. Then bleed the SuperSport 939 S properly, pump the lever until it is firm, and check that the wheel spins before the bike leaves the paddock.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's sheet gives the front of the SuperSport 939 S to the AGPA177 from 2017 to 2020, and each of the two calipers needs a box of its own. The rear of the bike appears under the AGPA42 for the same period, so a rider stripping the machine for a weekend can cover both ends from one catalogue page. The DKS036 disc completes the entry for this model. This pad shape carries other motorcycles too, which is the reason the article number belongs on the order rather than the model name.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the AGPA177ZXC in our paperwork and no inspection certificate either, so the article is sold strictly for racing and closed circuits.
Scope of Delivery
A single box with two AGPA177 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing material, the set for one caliper. Both front calipers of this SuperSport 939 S want one each.
