DescriptionThe whole story▼
Pit garages fall into two kinds: those where the brakes are whatever came with the bike, and those where a box of spare pads sits under the bench with the compounds written on the lids. The ZXC ceramic racing compound belongs in the second sort. Accossato offers it on the AGPA177 front pad of the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport, 2018 to 2024, as a ceramic mixture made for racing rather than as another step up the metallic ladder.
Key Features
- Front pads in the ZXC ceramic racing compound for the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport
- Article AGPA177ZXC, catalogue years 2018 to 2024, Sport and Sport Pro
- Accossato's classification: a ceramic compound ideal for racing
- A different family of material, not a firmer version of the road pad
- Two pads to a box, which fills one caliper
- The same carrier is also sold as ST, EV1 and EV2
- Worth trying on a test day rather than on a race morning
- No German ABE held; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The factory says ceramic and it says racing, and those two words together are the whole specification. Everything else is a matter of experience: a ceramic pad has its own relationship with lever pressure and its own manner of coming up to temperature, and a rider who swaps to one mid-weekend will notice before the end of the first lap. Because the AGPA177 plate is shared across the range, a Scrambler 1100 Sport can be moved between materials as often as the season demands, with nothing but the friction surface changing. Each box contains the pair one caliper takes.
What Lives Under the Bench
Running a bike over a full season teaches you to plan for the brakes the way you plan for tyres. Pads wear at a rate that depends on the circuit and on the rider's mood, they can be finished by one hot afternoon, and the thing you cannot do at eleven o'clock on a Sunday morning is find a set in the right compound. So the sensible garages keep spares, label them and write down which material was on the bike for which session. A Scrambler 1100 Sport used for occasional racing benefits from the same discipline even though nobody is paying for the fuel. Keep a note of how each compound felt on the first lap out of the pits, when the difference between materials is at its clearest. Check the disc every time the wheel is out, since a surface that has been cooked will flatter no pad, and keep the faces free of grease and of cleaner overspray, which is the quickest way to spoil a fresh set.
Fitment and Compatibility
This pad belongs to the front of the Scrambler 1100 Sport as Accossato lists it, 2018 to 2024, with the Sport Pro taking over the entry from 2020. Boxes are counted by caliper, one each, so check the front wheel before ordering a pair. At the rear the AGPP91 does the same job in its own compounds, and the DK008 and DKS053 are the discs quoted for this Ducati. Other versions of the 1100 appear under their own names.
Road Approval
No German ABE is on record for the AGPA177ZXC and no other approval either, so we offer it strictly for competition and track days.
Scope of Delivery
