DescriptionThe whole story▼
Some riders own two sets of pads and decide which to fit once they have seen the programme for the weekend. ZXC ceramic racing is the ceramic option in the Accossato range and the company points it squarely at racing, which makes it a reasonable candidate for the second box in the toolbox. Article AGPA106ZXC carries the material on the AGPA106 front plate and is listed for the Multistrada 1260 S D-Air of 2018 and 2019.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati Multistrada 1260 S D-Air, 2018 and 2019
- AGPA106ZXC: the AGPA106 plate with ZXC ceramic racing material
- A ceramic compound, described by Accossato as made for racing
- For closed-course use rather than for the commute
- Two front calipers on this model, so two boxes per change
- Each box holds one caliper's pair of pads
- ST, EV1 and EV2 use the identical plate
- No German ABE on record; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato tells us two things about this material and we will not invent a third: it is ceramic, and it was developed for racing. Both are useful to a rider deciding what to carry to a circuit. Since every version of the article shares the AGPA106 plate, a second set costs nothing in fitting time and nothing in compatibility, because the pads drop into the same calipers on the same machine. Choosing between compounds becomes a question about the day ahead rather than about the parts bin.
Keeping a Second Set in the Toolbox
Anyone who rides one motorcycle on the road and at a circuit ends up keeping duplicates. A spare set of pads takes almost no room in a toolbox, weighs little and turns a ruined day into a half-hour job on a paddock stand. On a Multistrada 1260 S D-Air, which is a big machine to be pushing back to the van, that half hour is worth having. The work is the familiar sequence: caliper off, old pads out, pistons cleaned and pushed back, new set in.
Two details repay the extra minutes. Bed a fresh set in deliberately rather than discovering how it behaves at the end of the straight, and look over the disc for ridges while the caliper is off, since that is the only moment you can see the face properly. Keep the old set somewhere clean if there is life left in it. And never ride off the stand without working the lever until it is hard again.
Fitment and Compatibility
This entry covers the front wheel of the Multistrada 1260 S D-Air for the 2018 and 2019 model years. With a caliper on each side, a complete change is two boxes. The rear of the same bike takes the AGPA29 across those two seasons, and the Accossato disc range has no entry for this model. The 1260 S without the airbag system is listed under its own years, so check which machine you are ordering for.
Road Approval
No ABE for this ceramic article has ever reached us, nor a German test certificate. It is sold for competition and closed-course riding, in line with what Accossato says it is for.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA106 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing material, boxed for one front caliper. Both sides of the front axle on the D-Air need feeding, so two boxes.
