DescriptionThe whole story▼
A ceramic racing compound on an adventure bike is not an obvious combination, and Accossato offers it anyway. The AGPA177ZXC puts the ZXC ceramic racing material on the same AGPA177 front pad that the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro of 2016 to 2018 takes in its other versions. Owners who pick it usually have a particular use in mind: a machine that spends part of the year at organised events, on circuits or closed roads, where the front end is worked in a way no tour ever manages.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro, 2016 to 2018
- AGPA177ZXC: the AGPA177 carrier in the ZXC ceramic racing material
- The ceramic line of the Accossato pad programme, meant for racing
- Also covers the Enduro Pro of the 2018 season
- Two front calipers on this machine, one box for each
- Two pads per box, the set a single caliper closes onto
- ST, EV1 and EV2 are the alternatives on the same carrier
- No German ABE documented; sold for competition
Construction and Material Quality
The ceramic family is a separate line in this pad range rather than a step above the others, and the note attached to it is brief: a ceramic compound intended for racing. No attempt is made to sell it as a general-purpose article, and nobody should read it as one. The plate is the familiar AGPA177, which is why an owner can run one material through the touring season and a different one for a handful of events without altering anything but the friction surfaces.
An Unusual Choice, and Who Makes It
Adventure machines turn up at closed-course events more often than the brochure images suggest. Some are ridden at training days where every exercise is about stopping; some belong to owners who take one motorcycle to everything and simply book circuit time with it; a few are used at organised events on closed mountain roads, where the descents are long and the corners tight. In each case the front end does a volume of work that the same bike would never see on a tour, and the material in the calipers becomes a deliberate choice rather than whatever the dealer happened to fit.
Being deliberate about it calls for a little bookkeeping. Note which material is in the bike and when it went in, keep any part-worn set clean and labelled if you mean to refit it, and change both sides of the axle together so the two calipers work with matched material. Once the wheel is back in, hold the Multistrada 1200 Enduro still and pump the lever until it firms up; a pad that has not been pushed out to the disc makes for a frightening first corner.
Fitment and Compatibility
This article is listed for the Multistrada 1200 Enduro across the 2016, 2017 and 2018 model years, with the Enduro Pro of 2018 named as well, and it fits at the front. Two calipers there, so two boxes. Multistradas without the Enduro designation are covered by separate entries and should not be ordered from this one. Accossato's rear pad for the bike is the AGPA29, catalogued over a longer period than this front listing, and its disc for the model is the DKS053.
Road Approval
We have neither an ABE nor any German inspection paperwork for the AGPA177ZXC, and we therefore list it for competition on closed courses.
Scope of Delivery
One box holding two AGPA177 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing material, enough for a single caliper. Both front calipers need one.
