Construction and Material Quality
The AGPA177 plate is common to the whole family and the face is where the article numbers part company. On this one the mixture is ceramic and its intended home is competition. Accossato's description stops there, which is fair, since the properties that matter at a race meeting are the ones a rider measures rather than reads: how the lever feels on the tenth lap, how quickly the material settles onto a fresh disc, how much is left at the end of the day. What the company does claim across its range is that its pads deliver strong stopping power without punishing themselves with their own heat, and that is the quality a ceramic material is bought for.
Running a Season on Several Sets
There is a discipline to managing pads that nobody teaches and everybody eventually works out. Mark each pad as it comes out so it goes back into the same side of the same caliper the same way round, because a part-worn pad has taken the shape of the disc it has been working against. Keep sets together; half of one set beside half of another is how you end up with an axle that pulls unevenly. Store them clean and dry, away from oil and solvent, and write the date and the event on the box, since the thickness you remember is rarely the thickness you have. A rider running an S 1000 XR through a season will get through more than the road version of the same bike would in years, so knowing what is in the van saves a Sunday morning. And when a set finally goes in for a timed session, bed it in during practice, not on the first flying lap.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application data covers the AGPA177 at the front of the BMW S 1000 XR from 2015 to 2026, and lists the AGPA252 as a second front shape for part of that period, so the safest check is the pad in your hand against the pad in the box. Each of the two front calipers takes one box, and both are done at the same time. The AGPP97 is the pad for the rear wheel over the same span, and DK007 is the disc the catalogue offers for this machine.
Road Approval
