DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every rider who takes a bike to a circuit regularly ends up keeping notes, even if they are only scribbled on the back of a timing sheet. Tyre pressures, gearing, which session felt right, when the pads went in. Accossato's ZXC ceramic racing compound tends to show up in those notes as a deliberate decision rather than a purchase of convenience. It is carried on the AGPA177 outline for the front wheel of the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 of 2015, and the company calls it a ceramic compound intended for racing.
Key Features
- Front pads in the ZXC ceramic racing compound for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100
- Listed for the 2015 model year of this machine, article number AGPA177ZXC
- Accossato's ceramic material, presented for competition riding
- Same AGPA177 plate as the road compounds, so a change costs no extra work
- Two pads in the box, which serves one of the two front calipers
- Rear pads: AGPA42. Matching disc in the catalogue: DKS032
- Accossato has built brake components near Turin since 1969
- No German ABE or test paperwork known to us; racing and closed courses
Construction and Material Quality
Ceramic compounds are chosen in competition for their behaviour when everything around them is already hot, and this is Accossato's entry in that class. The firm's own description runs to a few words, a ceramic compound ideal for racing, and it does not embroider them. What can be said with confidence is that the part is made to the standard AGPA177 pattern for the calipers of the Tuono V4 1100, so swapping compounds between sessions is a question of minutes rather than of planning. Long life and limited fade are what Accossato says its pads are designed around, and on a competition material those two aims are what allow a rider to stop thinking about the front brake.
What the Logbook Says About Last Time
A notebook turns a race weekend from guesswork into a routine. Write down when a set of pads went in and roughly how many sessions they have covered, and the decision about whether they will last until Sunday becomes a reading rather than a hope. Note also what the brake did: whether the bite point sat where it used to, whether the lever came back firm after the first stop of the morning, whether one side of the wheel felt lazier than the other. On a 2015 Tuono V4 1100 that has done a few seasons, those notes catch a sticking piston or tired fluid long before they turn into a problem in a braking zone. Fresh pads always want a controlled bedding-in run before anybody asks them for a serious stop.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato records this front pad for the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 of 2015 only, with the Factory and RR machines held in separate entries. Two boxes complete the front wheel, one for each caliper, and pads should be renewed as an axle set. The rear of the same bike is covered by the AGPA42 in the same range of compounds, and the DKS032 front disc is listed alongside, so a rider replacing a worn disc and its pads at once can take both from the same catalogue.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been supplied to us for this pad and there is no test mark on the packaging. That matches its purpose: a ceramic racing compound is sold for competition, and we sell it as one.
Scope of Delivery
One box with a pair of AGPA177 pads in the ZXC ceramic racing compound for a single front caliper.
