DescriptionThe whole story▼
A test day is a different animal from a race weekend. Nobody is timing you against anybody else, the sessions are long, and the whole point is to change something, go out, and find out whether it helped. Brakes belong in that process as much as spring rates do. Accossato's AGPA106 front pads for the Aprilia RSV4 Factory of 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2016 are available in the ZXC ceramic racing compound, the ceramic option in the company's competition range.
Key Features
- ZXC ceramic racing front pads for the Aprilia RSV4 Factory, 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2016
- Accossato's entries cover the RSV4 1000 Factory and the RSV4 1000 Factory APRC
- Reference AGPA106; a box holds one caliper's set, and this Aprilia has two at the front
- Accossato describes ZXC as a ceramic compound made for racing
- The same pad is also offered in sintered, EV1 and EV2 versions
- Rear pads for the model: Accossato AGPA42
- Accossato lists the DKS032 disc for this machine
- No German ABE or test mark on record; competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Ceramic friction material is Accossato's option at one end of the racing range, and ZXC ceramic racing is the label it carries. Over a test day, where a bike may complete six or seven sessions, the pads pass through as many heating and cooling cycles, and it is the behaviour across those cycles rather than any single stop that decides whether a rider can trust what the lever tells them. The company's aims of limited wear and controlled temperature apply to this compound as to every other one it makes. On an RSV4 Factory the two front pad sets should always match each other, because a difference between the calipers is felt immediately through the bars.
Testing One Change at a Time
The discipline of a test day is unglamorous. Go out, complete enough laps to settle, come in, alter a single thing, and go out again at a similar track temperature. If two things change at once, the day produces opinions instead of information. Brake feel slots into that process easily: note where the lever sits, how much pressure a given corner asks for, and whether the slowest corner on the circuit wants more effort at the end of a session than it did at the beginning.
Give the pads the attention you give the suspension. Let them cool between sessions with the bike on a stand and the lever free, look at the material and the disc face each time you come in, and keep both surfaces clean, since a splash of chain lubricant teaches you nothing except how a contaminated brake behaves. Riders who follow that routine on an RSV4 Factory finish the day with a page of notes and a brake they understand, which is exactly what a test day is for.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's coverage runs from 2009 to 2011 for the RSV4 1000 Factory and from 2013 to 2016 for the APRC version; the 2012 model year is not in the list and we do not claim it. Both front calipers need a box each. Compare new pads with old before fitting, inspect the discs while the caliper is off, and bear the AGPA42 in mind if the rear is due as well. The disc Accossato publishes for this Aprilia is the DKS032.
Road Approval
For the ceramic compound we hold no German ABE and no test documentation, which makes these pads competition parts.
Scope of Delivery
