DescriptionThe whole story▼
A race weekend is measured in sessions, not in miles. Free practice, qualifying, warm-up and the races themselves each put the front brake of an Aprilia RS 660 through the same punishing cycle, and the work between them happens in the garage with the bike on stands. Accossato's ZXC ceramic racing compound belongs to that world. Pressed into the AGPA177 pad that fits the front of the RS 660 from 2020 to 2025, it is the mixture the company describes as a ceramic compound made for racing.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Aprilia RS 660 of 2020 to 2025 in the ceramic ZXC racing compound
- Accossato's ceramic mixture, drawn up for competition rather than for commuting
- The catalogue covers the RS 660 Extrema and the 2022 Trofeo under the same pad
- Same AGPA177 outline as the ST, EV1 and EV2 versions
- Two pads per box; the front wheel of this model is gripped by two calipers
- Rear of the same bike: the AGPA42 pad
- No German ABE available; sold for racing and closed courses
Construction and Material Quality
Ceramic friction mixtures took their place in racing because of how they behave once everything around them is hot, and ZXC is Accossato's entry in that class. The company's description is short: a ceramic compound suited to racing. The pad itself is made to the AGPA177 pattern, the same one that carries the road-going mixtures, which is useful in a garage because a rider can move between compounds over a weekend without any change to the caliper or the fitting routine. Accossato develops this part of the range in its own works south of Turin, where the company also builds the master cylinders used on many racing machines.
Working Through a Race Weekend
Teams running an RS 660 fall into a rhythm between sessions. The bike goes on the stands, the front wheel comes out of the way or stays put while a torch goes into each caliper, and somebody writes down what is left of the pads before the tyres are changed. New pads go in on Friday rather than on Sunday morning, because they want a controlled run to bed them onto the disc before anyone asks for a serious stop. Pistons get a clean before they are pushed back, the fluid is looked at rather than assumed, and the lever is pumped until it is firm before the bike is wheeled to the assembly area. None of it is glamorous, and all of it is what makes the first lap of a race feel the same as the last one of practice.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Aprilia RS 660 of 2020 to 2025 Accossato lists the AGPA177 front pad, with the Extrema across the same years and the Trofeo of 2022 named alongside. A box covers one caliper and the bike has a caliper on each fork leg, so two boxes complete the front. The AGPA42 pad covers the rear wheel for the same model years.
Road Approval
Nothing in our documentation shows a German ABE for this pad, and a ceramic racing mixture is not offered as a road part in any case. It is sold for competition.
Scope of Delivery
A box with two ceramic ZXC pads, enough for one front caliper.
