DescriptionThe whole story▼
A KTM 690 Duke makes a willing everyday bike: slim, light on its feet in traffic and quite happy to be ridden through the grey months. What no motorcycle can change is how slippery a boot sole becomes once it has splashed through a few puddles on the way to work. For the 690 Duke of 2012 to 2019, Accossato makes the FT102 touring footpegs in CNC-machined aluminium, with a special notch that is there to hold the boot. You can order them as front pegs for the rider or as rear pegs for a passenger.
Key Features
- Touring footpegs for the KTM 690 Duke, model years 2012 to 2019
- Aluminium, worked on CNC machines
- Anodised black with a red insert
- Special notch for more grip under the boot
- Front and rear footpegs available as separate versions
- Listed for the early 690 Duke and for the ABS bikes from 2013
- No German ABE on record; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the FT102 from aluminium under CNC control and gives it a black anodised finish, with a red insert as the only splash of colour. The feature that sets it apart is what Accossato calls a special notch, a shaped detail meant to give the boot more grip. These are touring parts rather than a racing rearset. Their job is to offer your feet a firm, dependable place to rest, whether they carry the rider at the front or a passenger at the back.
Wet Soles on a Grey Morning
Rain is only part of the problem. The greater risk comes from what a boot collects along the way: water from a puddle at the lights, mud from a car park, wet leaves pressed into the tread. A sole coated like that slides on smooth metal far too easily, and it tends to do so at the least convenient moment, usually when you shift your weight under braking or lift a foot back onto the peg after a stop.
A notched surface cannot turn wet rubber into grippy rubber, but it gives the edges of the tread something to catch on. Riders who commute on a 690 Duke through the winter tend to add a few habits of their own: they keep the balls of the feet on the pegs rather than the arches, they choose boots with a soft, well-cut tread instead of a hard, smooth sole, and they knock the worst of the mud off their soles before setting off. It also pays to look at the pegs every week or so, because road grime fills the notch and blunts its grip. A stiff brush and some water clear it in a minute.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT102 for two versions of the Duke 690: the early bikes of 2012 and 2013, and the ABS models built from 2013 to 2019. The front version replaces the rider's footpegs, the rear version those of the passenger. The two are sold separately, so a full change front and rear means ordering two sets. We recommend fitting by a workshop, with the fasteners tightened to the values KTM specifies for the 690 Duke.
Road Approval
There is no ABE or parts certificate documented for the FT102, so it is not approved for road use in Germany and we list it for the track.
