DescriptionThe whole story▼
In town the Ducati Hypermotard 939 is a tall, light-steering bike with a commanding view over the traffic, which makes it a natural choice for everyday riding. City riding is hard on the rider's feet, though: down at every red light, up again on green, across wet cobbles, painted lines and the occasional patch of diesel. Accossato's FT102 touring footpegs for the Hypermotard 939 of 2016 to 2019 are shaped from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodised black with a red insert, and a notch in each peg gives the boot a surer hold.
Key Features
- Touring footpegs for the Ducati Hypermotard 939, 2016–2019
- Aluminium, CNC-machined
- Anodised black, red insert
- Grip notch for the boot sole
- Front or rear footpegs, each sold separately
- Take the place of the original footpegs
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FT102 starts as aluminium and is shaped by CNC machining. Black anodising follows: an electrochemical treatment that builds a hard oxide skin on the surface and holds the colour within it, so the finish cannot flake off the way paint can. The red insert gives the peg the black-and-red combination long associated with Ducati. Accossato's practical addition is the notch, which is meant to stop a boot from sliding across the peg. Front and rear pegs follow the same recipe and are sold as separate sets.
Red Lights and Wet Cobbles
Count how many times a ride through town on the Hypermotard 939 makes you put a foot down. Each stop ends the same way: the foot that held the bike comes back up and has to find its peg while you pull away. With damp soles, grit from the road and perhaps a trace of oil picked up at the last junction, a smooth peg can let the boot slide just as you move off. That matters most while the bike is still slow and not yet stable, and when you rise slightly off the seat for a speed bump or a cobbled crossing. The notch on the FT102 gives the sole an edge to lock against. It does not replace good footwear: riding boots with a stiff sole and a defined heel stay on a peg far better than trainers. And in the wet, remember that painted lines and manhole covers offer the tyres much less grip than dry tarmac.
Fitment and Compatibility
The FT102 is on Accossato's list for the Hypermotard 939 from 2016 to 2019: the 939 and the 939 SP of 2016 to 2018, a US-market version, and a Thai-market version that runs until 2019. Decide whether you want to replace the rider's pegs, the passenger's or both, since Accossato sells them as separate sets. Have a workshop fit them, tighten everything to Ducati's values and apply thread locker where the manual asks for it.
Road Approval
Nothing in our files shows an ABE or a Teilegutachten for the FT102. The footpegs are sold for use on the track, not on public roads.
