The Ducati Hypermotard 821 borrowed its riding style from supermoto racing, and plenty of owners ride it that way: inside foot off the peg into a tight corner, body upright, bike leaned beneath them. Sooner or later that foot has to return to the peg, often while the rider is already back on the throttle. Accossato makes the FT102 touring footpegs for the Hypermotard 821 of 2013 to 2016. They are cut from aluminium on CNC machines, anodised black with a red insert, and carry a notch that gives the boot more grip once it lands.

Construction and Material Quality
CNC machining means a computer-guided cutter shapes every peg to the same programme, so each peg matches the next and the edges stay crisp. After machining, Accossato anodises the aluminium black. Anodising turns the outer layer of the metal into a hard oxide that resists corrosion and wear better than bare aluminium, and the red insert adds Ducati's racing colour to the black. The functional detail is the notch in the peg, which Accossato designed to give the sole of the boot an edge to hold on to.
Foot Out, Foot Back
Supermoto riders take the inside foot off the peg and point it forward into a slow corner. It is partly for balance and partly insurance in case the front tyre slides, and it feels natural on a bike like the Hypermotard 821 with its wide bar and upright riding position. The awkward moment is the return. As the bike stands up out of the corner and the throttle opens, the foot swings back and lands on the peg without the rider looking down. If the sole lands only half on the peg, it can slip off just as weight goes onto it. A notched peg gives the boot a better chance of catching on first contact. You do not have to copy the technique to notice the difference, since every ride on the 821 includes feet-down moments at junctions and in car parks, each ending with a foot searching for its peg. Wear boots with a firm sole and keep that sole clean, because the notch works on rubber, not on mud.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FT102 for the Hypermotard 821 from 2013 to 2016. The list names the standard 821 and the SP, a Low Seat version of 2015 and bikes built for the US, Thai and Brazilian markets. Swapping footpegs is simpler than fitting a complete rearset, but a workshop should still do the job, tighten everything to Ducati's specifications and make sure the gear lever and brake pedal still sit well under your boots.
Road Approval
For the FT102 we have no German ABE or parts certificate on record. We therefore sell these footpegs for track use; on public roads in Germany they are not covered.
