DescriptionThe whole story▼
The BP007 steps up to the larger 13.5 mm piston in Accossato's thumb brake range, moving more fluid per stroke than the 10.5 mm units for a firmer, more immediate rear brake bite under the thumb. It keeps the same short-reach lever as the smaller-bore BP001, holding the thumb's travel compact, but is supplied without a mounting bracket, leaving the clamp to the rider, team or workshop. The larger piston suits heavier machines or riders who prefer a more direct feel at the thumb rather than the lighter action of the 10.5 mm versions.
Key Features
- 13.5 mm piston diameter for a firmer, more direct rear brake bite
- Short-reach lever for a compact thumb position close to the bar
- Supplied without a mounting bracket, for a rider-sourced clamp
- CNC-worked aluminium body with a black hard oxidation finish
- Suited to heavier machines and riders who prefer a firmer brake feel
- 10 mm brake hose fitting matched to the larger piston
- Designed to pair with the double-ended MP005 for combined pedal and thumb braking
Construction and Material Quality
The body is CNC-worked from aluminium with a hard, black surface oxidation treatment, machined around the larger 13.5 mm bore to the same tight tolerances used throughout the thumb brake family, so the firmer action comes from piston size rather than a looser-fitting bore. The short lever fitted here is identical in shape to the one used on the 10.5 mm BP001, keeping the thumb contact point in the same place regardless of piston size. Because the 13.5 mm piston moves more fluid, Accossato specifies a 10 mm brake hose fitting on this unit rather than the 8 mm fitting used on the smaller-bore versions, and no bracket hardware is fitted.
Piston Size and Lever Pairing Explained
Moving from a 10.5 mm to a 13.5 mm piston changes how much brake fluid the lever pushes with each stroke: a larger piston shifts more fluid for the same travel, which generally gives a firmer, more immediate brake response at the cost of needing slightly more thumb force to reach the same pressure. Pairing that larger piston with the same short lever used on the smaller-bore units keeps the hand position unchanged between the two piston sizes, so a rider or team switching from a 10.5 mm to a 13.5 mm unit does not also have to relearn a new lever reach. As with every thumb brake master cylinder in this range, Accossato does not recommend fitting the BP007 alongside a separate rear brake master cylinder on the same circuit; the double-ended MP005 is designed to combine pedal and thumb control instead.
Fitment and Compatibility
As with the smaller-bore unit, Accossato does not list the BP007 against any specific motorcycle, and no fitment entry exists for it in our data; it is a universal thumb brake master cylinder meant for a bar, clip-on or perch rather than one named model. Before ordering, confirm your chosen mount will clamp the bar securely, that the rear brake calliper and line on your bike accept a 10 mm hose fitting, and that the 13.5 mm piston is right for your rear brake system's fluid volume.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for off-road, competition and adaptive hand-control use.
Scope of Delivery
The package includes the Accossato BP007 thumb brake master cylinder fitted with the short lever, in black CNC-worked aluminium. No mounting bracket is included, and the fluid reservoir and brake hose are not included and must be sourced separately.
