DescriptionThe whole story▼
The BP005 fits the 10.5 mm thumb brake master cylinder with a bent-shape lever, cranked away from the bar rather than running straight across it, to clear the clutch lever, switchgear or a tight cockpit layout. No bracket is included, so mounting is left to the rider, team or workshop to fabricate or source for their own handlebar, clip-on or perch. The bent profile is typically chosen where a straight lever would foul another control or sit at an awkward angle for the thumb, rather than for any change in piston size or braking power.
Key Features
- 10.5 mm piston diameter for a light, easily modulated rear brake action
- Bent-shape lever for clearance around the clutch lever or switchgear
- Supplied without a mounting bracket, for a rider-sourced clamp
- CNC-worked aluminium body with a black hard oxidation finish
- Suited to flat track, supermoto and adaptive hand-control use
- 8 mm brake hose fitting matched to the piston size
- Designed to pair with the double-ended MP005 for combined pedal and thumb braking
Construction and Material Quality
The body is CNC-worked from aluminium and finished with the same hard, black surface oxidation treatment used across the thumb brake range, machined around a 10.5 mm bore to the same tolerances as the straight-lever versions. The bent lever is a separate shaped component rather than a straight lever simply angled by the installer, so its geometry and pivot point are engineered by Accossato rather than improvised in the workshop. Hose connection uses the same 8 mm fitting as the rest of the 10.5 mm sub-range, and no bracket hardware is fitted, leaving the clamp interface open on the body.
Bent-Lever Clearance and Pairing Notes
A bent lever earns its place on cockpits where a straight lever would clash with a clutch perch, a switch cluster or a narrow clip-on setup; the crank in the lever routes the thumb-reach around the obstruction rather than through it. Because the bend is built into the lever and not into the master cylinder body, piston diameter, bore tolerance and stroke are identical to the straight-lever BP001 and BP003, so the change is purely about clearance and hand position, not about braking feel. Accossato does not recommend running the BP005 alongside a separate rear brake master cylinder on the same circuit; where the foot pedal is to stay live as well, the double-ended MP005 is the part built for that combination.
Fitment and Compatibility
The BP005 has no motorcycle-specific fitment data attached to it and is not matched to any named model; Accossato treats it as a universal control for whichever bar, clip-on or perch a rider installs it on. Before buying, make sure the clearance the bent lever needs is available on your cockpit, that your own mount will clamp the bar securely, and that an 8 mm hose fitting and 10.5 mm piston suit your rear brake calliper.
Road Approval
This master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for off-road, competition and adaptive hand-control use.
Scope of Delivery
The package includes the Accossato BP005 thumb brake master cylinder fitted with the bent lever, in black CNC-worked aluminium. No mounting bracket is included, and the fluid reservoir and brake hose are not included and must be sourced separately.
